The master spirit lays defeated, with the final blow dealt by
Emrys, and the curse of Kiyo’s Sorrow is beginning to lift, thanks to the brave battlers and crafters that took up this monumental challenge, however something unexpected has happened! It seems that with the spirit gone, not only has the sudden inclement weather cleared, but a new land has been revealed in the South Seas. We now go to our Channel 5 Field Reporting, live on site:“Er yes, hello Titania. I’ve made it to the emerald hills of the new land and have spoken to some of the locals. They say the land is called Shengui Guo, a land of spirits and the otherworldly, and that is has been shrouded by spirit energy for some time.
No one has come and gone from this isolated island nation for centuries, the streets and markets are almost bare, but the mood among the few locals I spoke to is celebratory. Perhaps, with time, the markets will fill again with the chatter of vendors and crowds.â€
You heard it here first: the threat of rampaging spirits has come to an end, and a new land has been revealed. What mysteries and adventures await in this new land? Only time will tell.
(You decide to visit Connor for possibly the last time.)

Oh yeah! I'm still not seeing the turtle shape on the map (it looks like a nut cluster) but "GUI" can also mean "turtle" in Chinese while "SHEN" could refer to "deity" as well as "body."

The map is brilliant, certainly the most beautiful yet. And it's about time we had a proper East-Asian land. I can't wait for the shops to open!

The new land looks awesome, but why is it raining all over subeta, now since it wasnt like that some hours ago? The spirits are crying? Hopefully unshed tears over the lost memories from the past?

I'm sad to have missed battling, too. I understand not being able to battle the boss because it has been defeated, but were the rest community-based, too? I generally don't battle because the page is always askew, text sections overlapping one another, getting error messages that I didn't choose weapons when I did, etc. I can never see which pet I am choosing with the radio buttons, because their names are all typed over one another.
I really only wanted one of the drops from the first battle...wish we could have the little ones like that back, until the plot prizes are handed out, since the drops appear to be separate prizes.

I'm so annoyed I never got the black & white RE. Never got my weapon for Kiyo either despite wasting well over 400k on it. I'm not impressed with this plot at all.

I had hoped the plot would run to next weekend, as I had to leave Thursday AM, no way to get to Subeta until this morning (Mon AM). I missed everything from doing extra donating through the remainder of the plot, ALL the battling (& rewards etc.), I am SO sad!! Thanks for a fun plot, though, and a new land to explore soon...

I will just say this. Omen Islands Month and NO MATLAL POSTS? I liked the plot, but I would've liked to have the Islands involved more in it; Like maybe have had a step of us visiting the Islanders and seeing if they knew what was going on. I liked this plot idea and I hope the games stick around! I will say that is was a little anticlimactic in that a big battle solved the problem, but all in all I really enjoyed this summer event, and I'm SO EXCITED ABOUT THE NEW LAND. Part of me wonders if it will move around the map.....y'know, being on the back of a turtle and all.

It is kinda funny (horrible) if you think about it though...the spirits were given the bare minimum for who knows how long as well as neglected and made to feel forgotten a unloved for years, so they became enraged and displayed their sorrow and frustration in retaliation. So we fought and defeated them.
In the end not only were they neglected and depressed, but when they finally couldn't take it anymore, we beat the crap out of them. Makes sense...
I understand that at the point it got to, there was nothing we could do but fight them, but really, you can't blame them too much for lashing out.

Beautiful new land, fab art work...well done to the artist/s :) Plot was fun and managed to rearrange my life around so I could get some battling in .. yes how sad am I lol

I liked the plot, it has variety of activities, but I feel it a bit short.
And besides the fight part, it was pretty easy for me (I'm a newbie, so mi tier 1 pets were unable to fight beyond the first weird dog)
Although, I like so much the new land and th story behind the plot ;)
The skip button was a great idea besides I never used it it's cool to have a option. (and be or not rewarded for you final decision)

The story felt disjointed and a little rushed and while the games were not awful, everything was so easy that I finished all of the steps in like 10 minutes each.
I wish for more of a challenge tbh. Maybe I was somewhat spoiled by neopets plots because I remember some plots taking days...like trying to map my way out of caves...or I can't even remember what it was but the community part on the fairie ruin where it took 12+ hours because people kept messing up. These two steps....I literally CRIED because I was so frustrated. But when I finally got both. ..you can't even imagine the sense of accomplishment.

While I do appreciate all of the effort that the staff put into the plots and events, the art is absolutely stunning, as always. And I know that really, they don't have to give us anything, I also feel a little disappointed in this plot.

I liked the plot but it ended too soon. I thought we would get a few more days. However I do like the new place. It looks really amazing and I can't wait to see more released.

It was a nice plot, good to keep up with for the full time working players, so I'm happy I could participate in everything.

Whoa at the artwork on that new land!
I liked the varied plot steps - a couple of games (some of which I found easier than others, which is a good thing, as then hopefully everyone had one step they didn't find too challenging), the translations, and the battling :D If only the battling had lasted a little longer though (if Kiyo had higher HP for the first battle, it could've lasted longer, then more timezones might have had a chance of participating) ;)
I will say though, that to me, the end of the plot seemed rushed in comparison to the beginning.... but then I tend to find that with novels too (the ending is crammed into the last page, like they had reached the word limit).

So several people have mentioned the meaning behind the name, a few comments about the shape of the island, but I'm surprised nobody's mentioned specifically that it's basically an aspidochelone, a mythical creature that usually appears as either a turtle or a whale with an island / city / etc. on its back.

I agree with the people who are saying they hope the plot isn't over! It does seem a bit anticlimactic, but ah well. It was nice to have a special summer plot, so I am definitely grateful no matter what! I will say that I really wanted to fight Tashiin and didn't have enough time before the big boss came out. It would have been nice to have another couple of days with the smaller challengers. I won against Tashiin once, but then it got difficult. Tonight I was going to take the time to read up on strategy and try again -- likely I could have gotten to five wins. Otherwise, I've really enjoyed everything else about this plot! I did get a chance to fight the big boss, and I did some weapon making at other times. I'm satisfied that I did what I could even though I travelled over the weekend. Looking forward to the prizes!

Although, it's great to have the color returned to our avatars my main complaint is that there really wasn't enough time to battle the smaller opponents this time around. We only had what- a handful of hours before Kiyo (the big boss) was released & maybe not even 2-3 full days to battle the smaller ones. As somebody who works full time and doesn't always have access to reliable internet this is highly disappointing. I would've liked to have a little more time to battle the smaller opponents before having to jump into the boss battle. I literally only had maybe 1-2 hours to battle all three of them before Kiyo was released!
However, the new land is exciting! I was actually expecting something like this to happen at the end of the plot, due to the way the spirit cloud was covering the map.

I didn't get to finish the plot D: This is what happened when you can't be on Subeta a whole lot...and might only participate in the plot once per week. Yep...shouldn't have tried for all the game achievements at once. DX I hope more is revealed about Shengui Guo though, I'm excited to see a new land be revealed!

Question-- I never got to battle, was gone all weekend. Will this affect my score? I did participate throughout the plot and completed all the tasks and played the games...ect. I just didn't get to battle is all.

Last year's morostide plot was just absolutely boner killing at the end

I really enjoyed the plot, and Connor was adorable but I'm SO disappointed that things ended so quickly, and all on the weekend and I MISSED IT! :( I didn't even get to make one weapon because the hour wait wasn't up before the end of the event. :( I was doing so well too, getting almost all the achievements. :(

I think the plot was definitely lacking in places, especially when compared to past plots like last year's Morostide and the Masquerade murder mystery, but we got some nice art out of it and there were some cool ideas in there. There's always next plot! The new land looks really nice.

Why does it always feel like plots end right when things are starting to get good. It felt like that with Morostide last year too, which was frustrating

@Amber that's what i figured! i was playing spot the difference with the spirited world map and the new one to see if the borders of shengui guo were vaguely visible underneath the spirit cloud and got distracted by the peka thing, haha. makes sense though, like removing the carnival from the map altogether. just threw me off at first c:

except that here in subeta we're allowed to voice criticisms and say when we're disappointed and when things could have been done much better. in fact there's even a feedback and a suggestions forum.
someone having a disability that doesn't allow them to do things that are in general easy, does not make those things not easy. but aside from that my point was more on interactivity, or the lack there of, and the story being completely unfleshed and barely fitting together. and yes I did read every bit of dialogue and there were obvious connections, the throwback to the morostide plot was good, but overall it just didn't make for a compelling story. it's just severely lacking in thoroughness.
Though I did forget to mention specifically in my posts on this page that the art was wonderful. the challenger art was the best we've ever had by a great margin. Also the way in which the boss battle was done was a step in the right direction, though there's certainly more steps that could be taken.
p.s. while I don't particularly mind, keep in mind there are community guidelines to follow even when you don't agree with somoene's criticism even if it is harsh.

@Mike keep your disappointment to yourself, then. artists brought out their a-game, whoever wrote the dialogue did a great job with the references to last morostide's plot, a couple of new games are here to stay, and we get a new land. just because you don't feel personally satisfied doesn't mean you get to rain on everyone's parade, and just because you thought the steps were "easy" doesn't mean you get to blame it on people who physically or mentally cannot complete some of them. there's having an opinion and there's being an asshole about it.

Okay first off this plot was great from start to finish. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see Merana or Amy again but that's pittance. As for the people who are irritated, well I can understand how you can be frustrated. I worked hard to solve the puzzles and gain the achievements yself before looking at the boards and offered tips to my sister and dad as well and even though I'm not a battler, I'm glad there were options for us non battlers to do some damage as well, that hasn't been an option in the past. I can't wait to see what the new land will look like!!!!!

I'm not sure about the blurred part, but I think the Carnival was removed because the recent Delphi update seems to have changed the location of the Carnival, so it no longer made sense where it was. You're still able to visit it via the Delphi map so I'm guessing the revision was intentional and permanent.

well I rather enjoy the idea of plots and i like subeta. but they obviously could do so much better its not even funny. It's incredibly disappointing because its obvious a lot of thought and planning went into this but it's just not a good story and doing one 10 minute step every 3 days is not enough b7y any means. So, the spirits were on the cusp of anger, and jaxon's mysterious disappearance meant no rituals to stave them off. so kiyo attack's us with her sorrow and the litlte spirits rampage around causing mischief. the pirates and all anthromorphs have a common mysterious background. Obviously the new land should eb asian themed because asian themed spirit challengers..
That's basically the plot.. sure seems fleshed out to me, no holes, nope definitely not.
And it's not like the plot near enough lacked any interactivity. The only thing we had to "solve" was a translation where the answers were already given. seriously, it's kind of pathetic. Why aren't plots like the steele excavations plot where there was actually puzzles to solve, and a steady progress. why does every step have to be simple obvious directions and then a skip button is given because some people can't even follow that? why cater to the people who don't want to put effort in and actually PLAY SUBETA.
This plot felt a hell of a lot more like the centropolis garden mini event than an actual plot with a story and things to do.

That's it? I was expecting a little more action after the battling and not just "ok boss lady is dead everybody can go home now and don't forget to stop by the shiny new land on the way out" I feel this could have gone on a little longer and been a little more well thought out especially when you compare it to other site events/full plots/mini plots.

I loved all of the facets to this plot, personally. It felt varied, with different types of tasks, and the games were solid (and at what I thought was a good difficulty level to muddle through at just enough to pass, but still fun to play afterwards for the achievements!), and the art... GORGEOUS.
Can't wait to explore this new island! It's exciting to see a new land pop up!

I just want to add, in addition to "like Binder said, Shen = Deity, Gui = Ghost, Guo = Country. It's chinese.", "shengui" is a pretty popular genre in Chinese novels/games, themed to ancient china and involving supernatural characters and elements.

I was kind of hoping the new land would be more mystical-looking. ;o; But it is quite pretty, I must say. The fact it looks like a lion turtle on the world map gives me a feeling that no word in existence can describe. It is a happy feeling, though...so, so happy.
