Masquerade 2016!
Are you ready to dance? The Annual Masquerade Ball has begun and will be an non-stop party until 11:59pm on April 3rd! The Masquerade Forum will be open until 11:59pm on the 4th, so you have a bit of time to work out any contests you might run!
Migrating Masks has reopened for the holiday season. Make sure to grab a mask and put it on before you start dancing. After all, it is a masquerade. ;)
Note: Any item with the word ‘mask’ in the title should work for dancing!
For those of you that are new to the holiday, when you dance with people you receive either lounge trinkets or steamworks trinkets, which can be spent in the Libertine Lounge or the Steamworks Menagerie!
This is only the first wave of items for the Menagerie! There will be more items added later in the event.
Make sure to grab everything you want from the Menagerie listed under the year 2012 tab! We will be retiring all of those items at the end of the event.
Keep alert while dancing, you never know when you’ll be challenged to a duel by Boudewijn! If you happen to best him, you’ll receive a bag of trinkets. Don’t worry, he won’t hurt you if you happen to lose.

@Amber do you think the 2012 sect can retire 24 hours AFTER the Masquerade ends? So that those of us who will be dancing up until the very last second will be able to get as many of the 2012 items as we possibly can?
Did Boudewijn get kicked out by security? Haven't had him trying to cut in for a while. I was kinda hoping to take a few more bags off his hands.
Here I was thinking "Oh shit, I need to buy everything," only to find out I bought nearly all the 2k12 items last year or the year before. XD

somehow i can't put on a mask? it says i don't have the item (gold swirl mask) even though it's in my wardrobe :(

With seasonal stores like Avalanche and Masks, wouldn't it make sense for them to not be restocking shops so people have a chance to buy from them?
is anyone having issues with the items from the store? i bought a few things (two plumes, phonographs, the car chest things) i checked everwhere but they're not in my vault :(, pretty sure i quickstocked them in to my wardrobe but they arent showing up at all.
@Parisa it is not flavor text, you can get rejected. Most people are really into the Trinkets, so if you're in a "dance with the user above" thread it's kinda impolite to say no, but if you get invites from elsewhere or in a "reject for the Achievement" thread rejection is okay or even expected. Back when zombies were a new thing (and pretty gross, even in ball gowns) there was a lot of rejection happening.

Wardrobe is so strange now, and there is base hair sticking out behind my HA that i really cant figure how to remove.
Is anyone else having wardrobe troubles? My base is a broken image--IE, the base of my HA doesn't exist, half of my items don't display, and I can't see previews. :c My only option right now is putting a mask on underneath a backdrop, otherwise it's just floating...
Glad I put on my skull mask last night! :O Usually events like these don't start until the weekend but wow! Don't really have a whole lot of time to dance, though! Thanks for the update on the retiring items. I'll be sure to get anything from 2012 I don't have!

Geez another error to the pile of errors. Sometimes my mask allows me to dance, and sometime not.
@MissEventful Ahh, okay! Thank you for that! I just always have "eyes" and "mouth" dragged behind the base since I use whatever's in my wardrobe, haha.

You should all be able to dance now, we pushed a change that took a few minutes for the cache to catch up. Now any item with the word ‘mask’ in the name counts as a mask for the forums. :)
Figures. Just got home from work a short time ago and was only able to invite someone to dance once. :(
Also having mask issues. I've switched through three, and they're all from Migrating Masks. I guess I'll give up for the night for now.
The error seems to be with any mask. I am using one I just got from the mask shop and I am still getting the error. I am sure it will be fixed soon.

Getting the "no mask" error with one I picked out for this year and the one I wore for the entire masquerade last year...

Oh No! You need to be wearing a mask to be permitted into the Masquerade. I'm so sorry! Perhaps you could pick up one from Migrating Masks?

Welp. Guess I'll be keeping a tab with the dance forum open until the masks are fixed so I don't lose who I was trying to dance with.
I've been wearing this mask since the start of the event and danced fine and now suddenly it doesn't work???
Argh I hate that jerk in the error message. Yes I AM wearing a masquerade mask. I don't need any more I have plenty in my wardrobe already. Grrr. :(

What @Stiles said -- put on a mask, tried to dance, was told I needed to be wearing a mask. Put on a different mask, tried to dance, and got the message that I had asked someone to dance and I had five minutes until I could dance again. Waited five minutes, tried to dance again, then got the message that I needed to be wearing a mask.

Wow, finally. I wasn't prepared, will have to get dressed later but threw on a mask for now. I love the Steamworks shop and excited to see what great new stuff they will have this year. :D

I have question. When you say you're retiring everything from before 2012, does that mean we won't be able to buy the Yunium Key after this year? Without that you can't make a Steamworks pet, right? Will we really loose the ability to make those or is it just the wearable that will retire and the key will remain? Or will the system to make Steamworks pets change?

I'm so happy Masquerade started! It's not really one of my fave holidays and I'm really not into Steampunk stuff, but the items so far are very pretty! Quite a few things I want. Can't wait for the second wave!!
Seaspray is my new fav sub colour, plus the peacock and rift. On top of that we get all those amazing metal collar pieces! Ugh I love this, I am in love. I dont usually care much for the brown/gold steampunk stuff so to see COLOURS is seriously the best thing ever.
@leavateinn if you go into the wardrobe, then base and click on the basic mouth, I think that's the enamored expression. Though I'm not sure if that still applies anymore. Yes, I'd like to see how everyone looks while dancing the night or day away. Maybe the images will start to show soon. :)

I am being very serious. Look carefully. If it was just "scratching" as you say it would only do it once or twice before it realized the surface was solid and there was nothing to scratch. Watch as it brings its legs up, it's trying to shake off the burn before it has to put it down to bring up the other leg. That chicken is being tortured. It's not funny at all.

No matter how many of these attractions the SPCA shuts down double will open within a week. Every once in a while you can find a newspaper or magazine article about it.
