Rita was born in 1793. Her parents were an arranged marriage who never came to love each other as much as they should have. They were somewhat distant in Rita and her brother Cecil's lives.

Rita is a lesser noblewoman, and does not possess a title herself. She was raised mostly by governesses to be a good and obedient wife. For the most part the young girl allowed this, but she retained a certain outspoken spark.

At sixteen, she began getting jobs as an artist's model, having been noticed for her beauty.

She also discovered sex and her enjoyment of it, mostly with handsome painters, but also with older lords. Around the time she became the mistress to a cousin of the prince of Monaco, she also met Hayat. Hayat's growing artistic skill attracted her lover, and he wished to have a rather scandalous portrait painted of her.

Rita stays Hayat's favourite model for three years before on a whim Hayat asks Rita to run away with her, and Rita accepts.
