A bell dings as you enter the quiet little bake boutique. The walls are lined in a delicate floral pattern and black draperies hang from the windows. This mysterious store has intrigued you and it is not long before your eyes fall upon the most important item in the room. A big glass case stands before you and inside are the most delectable desserts imaginable. Each one looks better then the last and you quickly need to wipe a bit of drool from the side of your mouth.

"I thought I heard the bell ring." A rough russian accent forces you to tear your eyes away from the savory sweets to find the owner of the voice. Behind the case stands a small plump woman of about forty years of age, the back door swinging behind her. She looks at you with kind eyes as you inspect her. Her greying onyx hair is pulled up into a messy bun and she smiles with ruby red lips that match the jewel glittering at her throat. Her clothing is luxurious and fits in well with the establishment though it seems very inappropriate attire for a baker.

Behind you two men open the front door with a loud bang and the commotion causes a pastry to shift and smear up against the side of glass. The baker's eyes grow sharp and her mouth narrows. "You'll have to excuse me my dear it seems I'm needed, will you please change the sign to closed on your way out?" All you can do is nod and you quickly scurry out the door but not without noticing the two men. Both are very large and muscular, dressed in an almost military manner. You notice scars on one of their faces and something flashes from underneath the others coat. Such peculiar people to be in this type of establishment.

Helga Volkov was the daughter of a gambler. Her mother had died from tuberculosis when Helga was only five, so she was left to pick up the pieces when her father started to lose everything. First he only lost small things; a watch was taken or her mothers ring. Then he started to lose more; furniture was slowly carried off and eventually all that was left was Helga sitting on the floor of an empty house. But he just kept losing. He'd arrive home to his starving daughter with a black eye and a bloody lip, struggling to breathe. When they came for her she was not surprised. After all, what else did he have left to lose?

Those that took her forced her to work. In the beginning she was sent out onto the streets to beg for coin. Some days she would be handed a babe or roughed up by one of the men to make her more profitable. A young girl with a child of her own earned much more coin then a healthy girl on her own. Later she would be sent out to the streets for a different purpose but that was short lived.
