Capriccioso woke up lying on the ground, his head feeling like it was about to burst. He couldn't remember anything that he had done from the night before, did he go out and have too much to drink with some friends? No, that wasn't it. He didn't have too many friends nowadays; mostly he kept to himself exploring the woods. He thought back to when he was younger and his father would take him into the woods and show him all the different types of flowers and berries there were. Of course, they never harmed a living creature before. He honestly believed in what his father used to say "Son, the creatures of this forest keep it alive. Without these creatures this forest would just wither away and die. Like us, if we didn't have each other then that wouldn't be much of a life now would it son?" He smiled at the memories of his father.

All of a sudden his head started pounding even more and he started seeing images in his head, they were moving. No, not images... memories. Was that him? He tried to focus and clear up the memory but it was blurred and he couldn't tell completely what was going on. He saw somebody running through what seemed like the forest, dodging tree after tree. Was that him? He squeezed his eyes tight to concentrate on what he was remembering until the memory started to clear up some, it was him; but what was he running from?

Almost as if it was triggered by the memory his body started to cringe in pain, he felt his bones give way and his body lie limp on the ground. What was going on? Why couldn't he move? He wished he could ask somebody but there was no one around to ask. He was along in front of the woods with nothing but a vague memory of him running from something. He would give anything to go back home and eat some candy instead of be lying in pain in front of an empty forest. The animals of the forest had been disappearing lately. That thought triggered more memories; more pain. He remembered looking behind himself and seeing a large beast chasing after him in the forest, why was it chasing him he had never done anything to harm any of the forest creatures.

His body regained life and he jumped up inhaling deeply and staring out into the forest, he had remembered. He remembered what had happened the previous night in the woods. He looked down at his clothes, torn and tattered and his shirt was covered in blood. He connected the dots from his memories with the way he found himself when he woke up. He had remembered the beast jumping at him and feeling his teeth sink into his side, he remembered lying there and cringing in pain but only for a few seconds before he could remember nothing at all. Why wasn't he dead?

Before he could think anymore another wave of pain fell upon him and made him topple over to the ground, clinching the grass between his fingers as he called out in pain. Soon his cries started to sound more and more like howls, he could hear it himself. He felt his spine increasing in size, cracking into a larger shell, he didn't know what was happening to him or why it was happening; all he knew was that it hurt. He stared down at his hands gripping the ground below him, no not hands; paws. He saw massive claws and great white paws on the ground where his hands should be. He followed the paw upwards with colorful spurts of color climbing each leg, what was he?

The pain soon ended and he pushed himself off the grass, he rose up tall but he wasn't standing on two legs anymore. He was standing on four, yet he felt just as tall as if he had been on his own two feet. He needed to see himself, but if he had claws then he would surely have fangs as well, wouldn't he? He couldn't go into town, he didn't want anybody else to see him like this. Instead he bolted into the forest to find a small pond that he had visited a few days earlier. He peered into the water, hesitating slightly. What he saw was not himself, not even close. He saw the beast that had been chasing him, only this was different, this beast was covered in colors. The one who had chased him was solid white with a blonde mane.

It was strange to him, although he didn't feel scared anymore just mostly curious about what he was and how he got to be this way. There was a more overwhelming feeling though, bigger than his curiosity; he was hungry. He had a strong urge for meat, but not cooked... raw. This all made sense now, the beast who had chased him must have wanted meat too. The animals that had been disappearing from the forest were probably used as a meal for the beast. He shook hi large head and felt his mane flow with him, he didn't want to kill the animals for food, he wouldn't. He would eat candy, that is what he ate mostly anyways.

But would that be enough?
