Weeks of testing. Weeks of failures.
Twenty-five years ago, Peter was taken from me by an alternate Walter Bishop; one from a parallel universe. From that day forward I devoted my life to trying to find a way to get Peter back to me.
I had lost all hope. Driven by blind rage, I researched for nights on end. How do I cross universes? How did he do it?. No avail.

Many nights you would find me in my lab in a drunken stupor.

I began to work. Channeling my hatred for the other side through a manuscript. Some call it a Bible, but it is merely the ZFT, Destruction by Advances in Technology. Writings of the other side. Writings of what would happen if these "imposters" cross over to our universe. Chaos. Destruction. For every day that passed, our world began to unravel at the seams from Walter's undoing. Our world was deteriorating. Not for much longer.
We needed to prepare to fight back.
