Mishmash is a tribute pet for all of the rats I had over the Rat Decade, but in particular, the four who started it all: Louis, Luca, Topher, and Mishka, my bestest little guy. And, of course, a special mention to my last <3 rat of the bunch before they stopped being around... Rory, babyboy~
Over the course of about 10 years I was lucky enough to raise several different mini-colonies of rats, adding up to about 14 total- and I inspired several other friends to go on and adopt rats, too! It may sound like a lot, but they are only small animals with tiny lifespans, and often have complex health issues that cut their lives even shorter.
Despite the numerous challenges that come with owning such delicate and misunderstood animals, I have no regrets, wouldn't trade my time with them for the whole world, and I really hope that my living situation allows for rats again someday!
