The Forest Guardians
Con'ja
(kown-J-ah)
Physical Appearance
Mostly considered mythological creatures by the inhabitants of Asaea, the Con'ja look like a strange mixture between an elf, a bear cub, a mice and a lizard and the great Earthen Spirit, mainly due to the branches growing from its skull. Some people would even go as far as to say the Con'ja have dragon blood in them, but the rest of the population dismisses that idea due to the height of the creatures. The tallest of their species would be two feet, but the normality would stand around one foot and five inches, making them smaller than a newborn dragon. The Con'ja's eyes are slit and seem closed at all times. Face and body tattoos and makings differs between every individual.
Habitat
Con'ja are rumored to live exclusively in dense forests. Because of their preference to live in larger groups, they would need many trees to use for shelter for their people. The Con'ja live in the trees; supposedly in nature-made holes, but the witnesses, might there be one or two, have stated that when feeling threatened and/or when their head branches seem to die, they will bond with their hometree by turning into bark for a night. (Rumor states that some Con'ja never wake up from that sleep, or “bondâ€, thus returning to the Earthen Spirit.) From what could be observed, these creatures have no preference between deciduous and evergreen trees.
Nature
Up to this date, there has been no records of a Con'ja attack or of any form hostility from them; they are calm and peaceful creatures. Their long, flat claws would be used for climbing and holding to the bark more effectively, while their muscular legs would serve to jump “as high as the trees†and sprint run “faster than a cheetahâ€.
Diet
Herbivores. The leaves on their head are often taken off and boiled into some sort of bitter tea, the Heju(heed-joo), which they seem to affectionate.
