Courage Flickers

The warm amber glow of what could only be described as the only light source in the forest twinkled brightly from a distance with the passing by trees and brush. Idle steps that chimed, tangled, and rang with the metal bangles about its four ankles; these sounds helped keep the forest at bay. Its built purpose was to guide the lost souls, whether dead or still alive, from one end of the forest to the other. It was simple, wasn't it? Wrong. With the constant threat of the very place it called home attacking, PilotLight continued its battle against the forces of fear and selfishness.

Composed of hodgepodge repairs after years of constant the shuffling the souls that unwittingly stumbled upon the forest's greedy grasp the mechanical guide continued to practice its unending purpose: To protect and guide the souls which pass through the forest to the other side... away from the monster who would devour them with out a second thought.

It has been several years since the Inventor's passing. Pilot's parts are made of a rust resistant light metal. This makes it hard to resist damage from everyday activities such as supplies gathering and warding off the evils of the forest. While the supplies for energy is abundant it is becoming harder and harder to find spare parts to replace and or fix the ones that become unrepairable.

The Inventor: Cornelius B. Winston: Doctor, PHD, Inventor, Hermit. Mr. Winston is well known on the outside world as the founder of many things: Energy Saving Techniques, Bio Fuels... but his experiences and reports on the after life left the man a laughing stock of his peers. He did what all men do when faced with disbelief and no support, he moved to a small cabin in the heart of it all... and began inventing.

The Tail Lantern's Purpose: To guide the lost souls from one end of the forest to the other.
