Profile

  • Name: Daughtry
  • Active years: 2006-

Well, I'm going home, back to the place where I belong

I, honestly, don’t really know when I heard a Daughtry song for the first time (although I am pretty sure that it must have been about 2008 or 2009). Or the circumstance surrounding that first song. To be fair, I don’t know exactly which song was the first one I heard either. Just that it was a song off of their first album. And that I loved their sound from the start. And Chris’ voice? It’s so good, and very special.
And since I love their sound it means that there’s going to be a long list of honorably mentioned songs. Songs that I really like, but just not as much as their top ten songs (according to me). The honorable mentions are as follows: It’s Not Over, Used To, Over You, Crashed, Feels Like Tonight, What I Want, Breakdown, There And Back Again, All These Lives, What About Now, You Don’t Belong, No Surprise, Every Time You Turn Around, Life After You, What I Meant To Say, September, Ghost of Me, Learn My Lesson, Supernatural, Call Your Name, Crawling Back To You, Outta My Head, Start of Something Good, Crazy, We’re Not Gonna Fall, Gone Too Soon, Losing My Mind, Rescue Me, Louder Than Ever, Who’s They, Maybe We’re Already Gone, Lullaby, I’ll Fight, High Above the Ground, Witness, Backbone, Death of Me, Bad Habits, Stuff of Legends, White Flag, World On Fire, Heavy Is the Crown, Dearly Beloved, Evil, The Victim, Somebody, Lioness and Hunger Strike.
I also want to say that I absolutely loved Chris Daughtry’s renditions of Castle On the Hill and Somebody You Loved that he did on the second season of The Masked Singer US. I can honestly say that I can’t listen to him singing Somebody You Loved without my eyes tearing up. There’s just so much raw emotion in his voice according to me. So beautiful ♥️

And where your love has always been enough for me

Now then, the top ten songs on my list of Daughtry songs. In tenth place we have Asylum. This song has a great sound to it. It feels heavy and dirty. It’s perfect for Chris’ voice. And I really like the lyrics.
In ninth place we have Wild Heart. This one is such a nice song with a nice soft rock sound to it. Basically the opposite of the previous song. And yet it fits his voice perfectly again, just in a different way.
Next up we have Waiting For Superman. This one is fun and just really sweet. I love the lyrics more than anything else with this song.
In seventh place we have Traitor. Another one where I love the lyrics. But it also has a great sound and beat to it. Especially when the chorus gets going.
In sixth place we have Broken Arrows. This is a beautifully sad song with such touching lyrics. And it’s one of those songs where you can just hear the raw emotions in Chris’ voice.

I'm not running from, no, I think you got me all wrong

We’ve reached the top five spots now. And next up we have Cinderella. This one is such a different song compared to the rest that I just can’t help but love it. It’s just happy and fun.
In fourth place we have Long Live Rock & Roll. The lyrics of this one are just pure gold for me. I love old classic rock so I get the references in it. And the sound is just great. Especially when the chorus starts.
In third place we have Battleships. Now, this is a great song with great lyrics and sound. But to be honest it’s the boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom of the chorus that I love the most about it XD
Now we’ve reached the penultimate place of the list. And it goes to Baptized. Everything about this one is great to me. The drive from the beat, the overall sound and the lyrics. And Chris’ voice, of course.
So, which song is it that takes the proverbial cake for me? Well, it’s none other than Home. There’s a reason why I chose the lyrics of this song to divide the text on this profile after all. I love the lyrics so much of this song. Especially towards the end with the be careful what you wish for bit. It probably also helps that it is a song that I associate a lot with a roleplaying character of mine. Makes it nostalgic in a way for me since it makes me think of that character when I listen to it.

I don't regret this life I chose for me

I’ve stated this on my Adam Lambert profile, but I’m not a fan of American Idol (or the international versions of it) so the fact that Chris Daughtry was on that show makes no real difference to me. But, as with Lambert, the show did help to launch both careers so for that I am grateful. And in both cases I’d say that they have managed to carve out amazing careers for themselves. Which I love to see.
As I’ve pointed out earlier in this text, I love Chris’ voice and the way he can make it drip with emotion. I will keep looking forward to more music from him and the band. Rock on, Daughtry! ♥️

But these places and these faces are getting old
So I'm going home, well I'm going home
