Alcaeus was designed to be broken. A poorly created creature fixed time and time again by the lesser inventor. Alcaeus lived in a time where everyone was an inventor or a creator or could make something. If you were not, you were someone who broke things and you simply did not belong. Alcaeus' creator struggled to 'create' he failed over and over. Every time repeating that part of the scientific process is failure! The only success he ever had was Alcaeus. He said Alcaeus was built more for practice. If he had to tinker all the time in attempts to fix a creation then perhaps he would get better.

Though it wasn't a great living Alcaeus didn't mind. One might think, but a robot is inanimate of course it doesn't mind! This inventor might not be the best but he had managed to create something more then a simple robot to do tasks. Alcaeus could think like a person might think. He could solve problems he had not been programmed with the knowledge of. Though his inventor was laughed at for his ridiculous gadgets and ideas on how to build a better machine, his theories were solid. He had the ideas just not the technique. Part of Alcaeus' problem was that he could think and a part of him felt. He didn't like the clunking hissing noises he made. Alcaeus frequently tried to remake his own body. Unfortunately he could not do much in that aspect. He only made things worse and the inventor would have to put him back together.

Alcaeus though thoughtful never thought to give up and live like he was. He only wanted to be better. That was all he could think at times. He slowly started to blame the inventor for his poor choices. Alcaeus decided he was going to learn how to repair himself then leave the inventor and the society of people with their God complex. It took him several weeks after he had decided this to learn how to repair himself, rather then tear himself down. Finally he felt like he knew enough. Except he needed to find his own blueprints and take them. So he waited. He watched his disheveled inventor lock away the notes, books, and blueprints for the night. His inventor turned and looked at him for a moment, smiled, and walked away with the key.

Alcaeus did not need a key though. He had created his own copy of the key. It was a simple thing to create a key. Alcaeus figured his inventor didn't use a better key due to no one really wanting to steal from him. Usually. One problem did arise though. Without human hands it was very difficult to get the key in the hole and turn it. Still it wasn't enough to stop him. He fumbled with it and finally opened the door. Shuffling through the papers and boxes he finally found his blueprints where he hadn't really expected to. They were pinned up on the wall. Perhaps in another way he should have expected to see them where they could easily be seen. The inventor must used them a lot for repairs after all. Alcaeus moved some boxes together like stairs and jumped up to pulled the pins out and take the blueprints. He found a cylinder container for them and then put it upon his back.

He left that night on a ship. Not just any ship. A ship that would take him into space. Away from the land that knew him as a broken machine. Though Alcaeus did not know it, his inventor would get better. He would become more than someone who created broken things. In fact he would rule this whole land with robots that thought. The fact that they would need humans to repair them would be a key in controlling them. But that doesn't really matter. For Alcaeus did not care what happened to the land he left behind. He only wished to explore the galaxy. And that was what he was going to do.

(The Key for him was gifted to me by the amazing wonderful Vixien.)
