No one really knows what Ramon Santiago dealt in. No one really knows if that was even his real name. It probably wasn't. Rumors of Ramon being affiliated with drug cartel, gambling, controlling assassination orders and corrupt politics all circled during the 1920's, though nothing was ever pinned on him. It was impossible. The man was just too good at whatever he did. Ramon's only major slipup was his greed, and subsequently, it was this same greed that got him killed.

Just like everything else that attached itself to Ramon, no one really knew how it happened. His body was found dumped in a river, a gun shot easily visible through his head and a note attached to his spotless black suit reading "We told you you'd get what you deserved".

Most people don't argue with the devil, let alone try to cut a deal. Then again, Ramon had always been a cunning business man, and a little pressure had never stopped him before. Even when his very life was on the line, dangling over a pit of brimstone and ash.

"And what do I get in return if you are reborn?" The voice asked, infused with fire and pure hatred. The pits of hell didn't welcome those who questioned their sentence.

"I know I could be of some use, in some way." Ramon smirked, hands on his hips despite the tremor of terror that coursed through his body. It was hot. Very hot here. He was sweating. Though was he really? He was dead. The dead did not sweat. Nothing was really there. Or was it?

A deep laugh cut through the depths, damned souls adding their screams to the sound.

"You are not worth my time."

"Yet you are still talking to me"

Silence.

"You are to protect the souls who have not yet made it to heaven or hell. The souls of the confused."

"And my body?"

"You will be recreated from the skins of those long past. A fearsome creature, yet pieced together like a flimsy puppet. But that is all you are. A puppet. An instrument of a task that will never end."

The heat was becoming unbearable. It was always unbearable. Ramon stayed silent, the heat melting his mouth shut and scalding his skin.

"Greed has captured your heart, you are not fit to walk as a man again. Go forth Capture, and don't fail me." Another laugh followed, "Many here can easily replace you..."

Capture's ears were assaulted with the screams of hundreds, thousands. Those who could not make it to the pearly gates, and never would.

"Just tell me when to start."
