Daevas was furious! More furious than she had ever been!

Throughout her short life, Daevas had only ever known anguish and sorrow. Some days ago, she had called on the demon Varun to help her get rid of her father – The main source of her grief. The demon had agreed, promising her a life of power and immortality, more power than she would know what to do with but now, as she held the lifeless body of her sister in her arms, she knew that he had lied and she vowed that he would pay dearly for this.

Wiping away the lone tear that rolled down her cheek, she placed a single kiss atop her sister’s cold head and said goodbye for the last time. Carefully placing her back in the pine casket Daevas herself had picked out just days ago, She buried her under the soil. Again.

Standing up on shaky legs, Daevas called out to the night sky;

‘I Daevas, Demon of addictive drunkenness, sexuality and envy, summon you Varun, demon of temptation, wickedness and sinful lust, hear my cries and come to me.’

The wind kicked up all around her, a brilliant white light flashed in all directions and there he stood, sharp fangs gleaming before her. ‘Daevas. I didn’t expect to see you so soon. I trust your father is dead?’

His calm demeanour only served to increase her fury ‘My father is dead. But you lied to me Varun. You promised me the power of resurrection. Why didn’t it work? Why can’t I bring Jeh back? Tell me!’ Her treacherous tears betrayed her, falling freely for her lost sister.

The demon lost his grin and looked at her with genuine sadness, as if he actually cared about her pain. ‘Dear Daevas. Jeh was but a sacrifice - a gift. Did you seek to take back the gift which you gave me?’ He cocked his head to the side, puzzled at why she was angry with him when he had given her everything she had asked for.

He took a step toward her, arm stretched out as if he wished to offer her comfort, Disgusted by him, she stepped back from his reach.

‘Yes. She is my sister; I would never have offered such a sacrifice had I known I would be powerless to save her. You tricked me! Bring her back! Bring my father back and take back the powers which you gave me, please!’ She hated that she was begging him again, but for Jeh, she was willing to do anything.

His anger returned, even more vengeful than before;

‘How dare you!’ the demon roared, His usually white eyes burning a crimson fury ‘I have given you everything you asked for! There was no trick. YOU are the one who has tried to trick ME, Only agreeing because you sought to negate on our deal but what’s done is done! You have taken care of your father; I cannot turn back the hands of time even if I wished too, Jehs soul belongs to me now and I will not return her to you. You have received that which you asked for have you not? Your fathers’ death and more power than any human before you has ever been given, this last was not asked for but was a gift from me. Now you desire to throw this back in my face? Leave now demon, before I strip you of the powers I gave you and you once again have nothing!’

As he turned to leave, Daevas felt a storm brewing inside of her, her body becoming a conduit of pure hatred and unleashed fury. Her hair whipped around her face furiously, her white eyes swirled so rapidly she couldn't see straight. Varun lurched forward, falling to his knees. His skin pulled back tightly from his mouth and he growled in pain.

Unused to her new powers, Daevas did not know what was happening to him; only that it seemed to be working and she would not stop until he was erased. She focused all of her energy on him and could see him in her minds eye. Mentally, she wrapped her fingers around his throat and she squeezed, tighter still. She could see the indentations in his neck as he knelt in front of her. When the life had drained completely from his body, he fell forward in a crumpled heap. Daevas extracted a knife from her back pocket and stalked towards him, kicking him over so he lay on his back. She bent down to his chest and cut out his heart. Then she ate it.

As she walked away, blood still trickling down the corners of her mouth, Daevas knew there would be consequences to taking the life of a demon elder so some days later, she was not at all surprised when her body was summoned and materialized before the high court, where she was greeted by 3 equally terrifying looking demons. The demon on the right with the bloodred skin and gnarled horns spoke to her, looking at her over his monocle;

‘Daevas, demon of addictive drunkenness, sexuality and envy, You are charged with the crime of taking the life of one of the highest ranked demons, Varun - Demon of temptation, wickedness and sinful lust, the demon who sired you, How do you plead?’

Daevas had thought to lie, but she knew the repercussions would be more severe than had she told the truth.

‘Guilty, your highness.’

Or so she had thought...

‘Very well. The high council hereby punishes you to spend the rest of eternity in hell. Bound by your powers, should you try and use them on anyone, You will die. Try to escape from your hell you will die. Do you understand?’

‘Yes, your highness’

Daevas luxuriated as the fiery flames danced over her body and licked at her toes. She was used to living a life of hell. She’d been in a living hell her whole life but without Jeh, she had nothing anyway and gladly accepted her punishment.
