I remember the old days, when they lived here. Those were my luckiest days, ever. 3rd Sept 1829 It rained that day I came to life. There was no reason at all for them to go out and play, because the rain was drenching and it did not seem to stop for a while. Besides this, it was afternoon and the sun did not shine as pretty as it did the last few days. So they said they’d give a little tea party, instead of wasting time and waiting for the rain to stop and the sun to shine. The kids were especially delighted by this idea and they wanted their plushies to participate in the tea party, as well as me. So they decorated an old, round, white vintage table with the prettiest table cloth I have ever seen. They put me in place between their octopus and bunny plushie called Sir Vincent and Mr. Collin. I was a little shy the first time I sat next to both of them, so I did not say anything. Good for me, they seemed to be shy, too. Suddenly something was up and I wondered what it was, because I never experienced such a smell. It was the first time I was able to smell and I can assure you it was such a heady aroma! I guess it came in the direction of the kitchen. Then the kids brought some beautiful looking cups and a tea pot with some delicate adornments on it. A few minutes later, that round old table looked lusciously decorated with biscotti, cupcakes, sandwiches, honey and tea. That moment I realized the good smell came from this table. I am sure, Mr. Collin became as hungry as me by smelling all the good dainties – he looked like he had a ravenous appetite but still he remained silent. There was no mistaking that you could hear my stomach growling. One of the kids, Vanessa, told her brother Marc “Oh, apparently you’re hungry!†Marc replied “No, that wasn’t my stomach! It was yours!†However, none of them had the idea it could be me being hungry. “Mum, Dad! There is a little surprise for you!â€, Vanessa shouted. Mum and Dad took a seat and Dad joked “Oh, hey kids! I think a certain drink is missing – where is my alcohol?†Everyone laughed, but I could not get the joke and wondered why nobody would go and bring some alcohol to the table. Oh, it was such an amazing afternoon! It was so heartwarming to see the family laughing, relaxed and harmonic. At early evening, Mum lulled the kids and Dad hopped into the shower. I waited some time for them to pick me up from the table, but realized a few hours later that they forgot me and Sir Vincent there. “It’s pretty silent now, right?â€, I asked Sir Vincent. Even after all these hours Sir Vincent did not say a word. “Okay, I guess you are not that type of babblerâ€, I continued to talk. To be honest, it was pretty boring that night. The kids slept like a log and there was no one to talk to, except for Sir Vincent. After a long monologue, I thanked Sir Vincent for being an attentive listener. I stood up and tried to clamber down the table. After some clumsy acrobatic feat I finally reached the ground. Through my eye lids I could observe something very bright which caused me to open my eyes. It was night again, this time full moon and I found myself sitting in the shelf next to Mr. Collin. No one could ever explain to me how I got there. I clambered down the shelf and wandered to the kitchen to look for any cupcakes to decorate the table. Unfortunately, I could not find any cupcakes or biscotti, but a book where photos were taken of those luscious smelling desserts. Highly motivated, I tried to attend the book’s orders to learn how to bake cupcakes. The instruction told me to beat some eggs, so I scoured the kitchen to find some. A spoon fell down and I was scared witless.Suddenly, I recognised some footsteps panicky running down the stairs. “Hello, who is there?â€, I heard Dad shouting. He turned on the light in the kitchen and I managed to hide me behind a tea pot. After Dad could not find anyone or anything but the spoon, he turned off the light and went to bed again. The whole night I trawled the kitchen to get to know everything in there and kept in mind to get out of the way of spoons. How happy was I to find some alcoholic drink! I remembered Dad missing some alcohol at the tea party, so I definitely wanted to satisfy his wish by putting a glass of Gin and Tonic on the old, round table. The last thing I remember was waking up on the table next to the Gin Tonic and an upset sounding Mum: “Kids, I told you to keep your hands away from alcohol! And stop leaving this curious plushie everywhere!†Curious plushie? She did not mean me, did she? I guess she did, because a few minutes later she ungently placed me in the shelf next to Sir Vincent. The next few weeks I stood up every night and went into the kitchen. I taught myself how to bake and make tea, how to make sandwiches and how not to come in touch with a spoon or the alarm system. Sometimes, Dad ran into the kitchen to ask if there was anyone there and said he will call the police if this person would not show oneself. “There is something scary going on in this house!†Oh, these were such lucky days! A perfect tea party organised by me at night was within my reach! I could hardly wait to see all those happy faces of the kids, Mum and Dad. Sometimes I tried to hold talks to Mr. Collin and his friends, but even after months they were quite shy. “I hear voices in the night, Mummy. I am scared!†The best and also sadest night I can remember was when I finally decorated the table the same as the kids did a few months ago. It smelled of caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate and coconut. I was so proud of myself! I put Mr. Collin and their friends in place on the table and took a seat, myself. Unexpectedly, the kids awoke by that sweet smell and ran to the table and shouted:“Mummy, Daddy! Did you decorate the table? Are we having a tea party, now?â€The last thing I ever heard Mum and Dad saying was: “We have to leave the house, immediately. We are not safe, here.†They packed some bags in the night and left me with Mr. Collins and his friends here. I have no idea why they left, suddenly. All I know is I miss Mum, Dad and the kids so much and all I have are my memories of a happy time. It’s been many years, now. I haven’t moved in hopes to see my family, again. In the meantime, I am having some tea parties with Sir Vincent, Mr. Collin and his friends. Still, they do not talk to me. 15th Jan 2014 Story by User not found: louiza |
