She barely had time to duck as the doll came flying towards her head. When it bounced off the wall with a thunk Jen looked up, horrified at the mess that greeted her. "What the heck have you done?" she said as she stood up straight and put her hands on her hips. Toys were strewn about the room, Barbies in various stages of undress, some with heads pulled off. Stuffed animals thrown about in what was obviously one of Meekins' better tantrums. "Young lady..." Jen said, her voice stern as she glared about the room. The play table in the corner used to be pink but was now a collage of rainbow scribbles that would have been much better suited on some of the construction paper that appeared to be torn into as many pieces as possible. "Really Meekins, what am I going to do with you?" Jen asked as she walked into the room and started picking up toys. Her gaze moved to the bundle on the bed, shaking and occasionally letting out a pitiful whimper. As Jen moved through the room cleaning a path in the destruction she said softly, "You know, you're almost six now. You shouldn't be acting like this." before she dumped her armful into the toy box.

Meekins chose this moment to peek her head out from under her favourite blanket and cry out, "Shut up you big stupid head!" before she buried herself under yet again just as the hiccups started. Jen nearly smiled, it wasn't every day she was called a stupid head, but she refrained and instead took a seat on the bed next to the quivering mass. "What happened now?" she asked as she slowly pulled the blanket down to get a peek at the pink Deliema wearing a lilac princess dress and a crown tilted over her horns. She noted the crown was slightly bent, and instead of being circular it was now an oblong shape and she wondered if that was the cause of the problem, or just a result of the tantrum.

Meekins made a big show, as was her way, of sitting up in the bed and making sure her dress was still pretty and perfect. She straightened the crown upon her head before letting out a big dramatic sigh, “I just wanted to play “Do as I say.” But no one wanted to do as I said.” She said before she hung her head in sadness. She peeked up, just slightly to see what Jen’s reaction was.

“Was your game the same as it was last time? Demanding toys, cookies and cakes?” Jen asked as she smoothed her hand over Meekins’ hair. “Because I can’t blame the other children for not wanting to play with you.” Jen stood up from the bed and smiled, “Come on, lets clean your room and we’ll see if we can’t get you something to snack on.”

“No.” Meekins said, crossing her arms over her chest. “I don’t want to clean, I want to play a game.”

“Well, you can’t play a game until you clean up this mess, young lady. I don’t know where you got it in your head that you could boss me around, but I won’t stand for it. Not in this house.” Jen pointed at the floor, “Now, start cleaning up or I’m going to make you eat nothing but peas and other vegatables for the rest of the week.” Jen nearly smiled at the look of horror on Meekins face.

“But... but I don’t want to clean!” she protested one last time, and when no response was given she scooted over to the end of the bed and slid down from the floor. She started picking up her toys, with each one she would sigh or huff, making a huge deal out of it.

“Good, now holler when you’re done and I’ll come make sure you haven’t missed anything.” Jen said before she walked out of the room to start dinner.

“Such a meanie poop head.” Meekins said to her stuffed bear as she picked him up from the floor and waddled over to her bed. Laying him down in the center of the pillows she made a face, “I guess I need to finish, or I’ll have to eat peas the rest of the week.” She said with a shudder.
