Thousands of years ago, when the earth and humans were new, there was a war in Heaven. There were angels who questioned the Almighty, those who opposed their plans, and even those who sought to usurp them. All of them were cast out of Heaven.

Like the rest, Sorukel did not believe his punishment was fair. He only wanted to know what God’s plans for humans were. Unlike most of the fallen, Sorukel did not follow Lucifer to Hell. He was still loyal to God, despite it all. But he was not wanted in Heaven, and resigned himself to living on Earth among the humans. There were others like Sorukel, but with time they came under Lucifer's sway, and he found himself completely alone.
