If only they could see what I see, then they would understand. But they are blind and I... sometimes I wonder if they are deaf or I am mute.

I am Konrad Curze; the Night Haunter; Primarch of the Night Lords Legion; ruler, saviour, and tormentor of the night-bound planet Nostramo. And I am gifted - no, cursed - with what they call 'second sight'. Since I can remember, I have been able to see not just the future but sometimes even alternate futures - all the different paths that my life could take. I see into lives both like and very unlike my own, a dizzying and sometimes overwhelming stream of choice and consequence. If it is possible to have happened, I have seen it occur somewhere. Yes, even the really stupid things. Others would consider this ability a blessing, especially to a warrior and leader like myself, but I see it yet another blight upon my already ridiculously blighted life.

Why? Two reasons. Firstly, most of my visions are what the layman might call 'frakked up'. Massacres, misery, betrayal, bombing, disease, despair and death make up the majority of what I see. If my visions ever have a body count of below triple figures, I consider it a good day. This bleakness was especially prominent during my youth on Nostramo, a place so depraved, deprived and overall corrupt that the top two causes of death were suicide and murder. It turns out that living for thousands of years doesn't do good things to the human psyche. (You will be pleased to know, I'm sure, that my dear homeland has improved. Though only after I took out the trash, so to speak, by systematically murdering every single criminal on the planet. Extreme and brutal measures, yes, but necessary. It was the only way.)

Secondly, unlike my brothers Magnus and Sanguinius who also catch glimpses into the future, my visions and violent and unpleasant. While they dream the future, I have wild, thrashing nightmares. While they might slip into a trance, I have fits where I scream incoherently and claw at anything within reach - including myself. I've actually killed more than one of my own Night Lord sons during my fits.
