Artis and her twin brother Zarius were born with the spirit of some forgotten god that had split in two. They are immortal, and spent the first hundred years or so chained in a dungeon so people could harvest their blood for battle potions.
When that society collapsed, Artis and Zarius broke free. The twins had very different personalities, and while they loved each other, they figured there's no sense in staying together and they parted ways. Zarius is hiding in the mountains somehwere, living the quiet life. Artis chose to explore and get involved in the doings of other races.
There was a male wolf that she met, Traum, another split spirit because his parents had opposing powers of light and dark. Artis realized as she started falling for him that she was sharing her immortality with him through their bond.
As time passed Traum became more and more insane, his mind ravaged by the opposing forces within. He could never find relief in death, because no matter what happened he always regenerated thanks to her immortality. He started to blame her for his misery..
So one day, Artis realized she didn't love him anymore, and cut off his head.And this time, it didn't grow back.
