"The Soul-eater"In a forest darker and more fearsome than any graveyard in Shadowglen, lives the Nightmare pets. Being creatures of dreams gone wrong, these pets avoid each other as much as possible. They are territorial and asocial, preferring to care only for themselves and, rarely, their young.In one corner of these woods lived an Endeavor and her ghastly owl. The Endeavor, know only as "The Soul-eater" would hum, the sound vibrating throughout her entire body. To those born of depravity and fear, the sound imitates the screech of rusted iron being bent in on itself. However, all other creatures - those that dream and hope - hear the most beautiful and heart-wrenching tones they can imagine. In that instant of enchantment, the bewitching, seemingly wise owl appears to the beholder. At first they are suspicious, as the owl is not the source of the sound they cherish so. They stand, listening to Her song, eyes engrossed in the gaze of the ethereal bird. It alights on a nearby branch without a sound, it's red eyes staring into the soul of Her prey. The owl transfixes and hypnotizes the victim, enveloping their minds in a cold, numbing fog...
