Lillica was an ordinary, plain old common torrent in a very big pond full of beautiful fish. The other fish all had gorgeous colours and amazing patterns, that poor tiny Lillica felt so plain, and boring. Three of the most popular fish in the pond swam past her one day, and they were talking about the 'Pond Pageant' where people from all over the land came to the pond, and with huge nets, the took home with them the most beautiful fish. Lillica listened on as the three other fish talked among themselves. One noticed her listening in, and scoffed. "Dream on, Lil. As if anyone would choose a boring comment torrent like YOU." The three fish started laughing, and they left. Lillica sighed, and one of the nicer fish swam up to her. "Don't listen to them, they're full of bubbles." The other fish said and smiled. "They're right, though. No one would ever pick me." She said, and the other fish shook her her head. "You'll never know unless you try." Lillica nodded her head, and made up her mind. She would enter the Pond Pageant, and she would try her best.She entered the next day, to everyone's disbelief. "You're entering the Pond Pageant? You?" One fish asked, and she simply nodded her head. "But why?" Another asked. "Because I can. And because I will never know unless I try." She said, and swam away, leaving the rest of the fish gaping. As she swam off, she smiled at how their gaping faces looked. It felt good to be courageous for once. Lillica was going to try. And she was going to show them ALL.It was the day. It was finally here. The Pond Pageant had finally come! Fish from all over the pond had come to show off their gorgeous colourings, and their unique patterns. Scales glinted in the water as fish swam around, dazzling the spectators with their beauty. And there was Lillica. The common torrent. She swam this way and that, dancing her best in the pond, trying to get someone, anyone....to notice her. Sadly, no one took notice of a common torrent. The 3 popular fish swam up to her and began their gloating. "Seriously, what did you expect? People come here to see beauty. You don't have anything going for you. You should leave now, so you can go cry behind some rocks." One said, before they swam away. Lillica sighed. It was time for people to take home the fish they liked. The people all swooped in on the beautiful fish, catching them in their nets. Nets went by Lillica, never coming near her. The 3 popular fish were netted by 3 children. "See ya, Lil!" They cackled as they got taken away. Lillica looked around, to find...she was the only fish left in the pond. The 3 popular fish had been right all along. No one wanted a plain comment torrent. She couldn't help the tears that began to flow. Lillica hated crying in front of people. But where was the harm? Everyone had gone, and left her all alone. She was so caught up, that she didn't see the young lady kneeling in the pond and looking at her. "Little torrent, why are you crying?" She asked, and Lillica looked up and hurriedly wiped away her tears. "There was something in my eye." She said, and the woman smiled. "I see. Why are you here all alone? You didn't get netted?" The woman asked, and Lillica nodded. "No one wants a common torrent." Lillica said, and the woman frowned playfully. "You, young torrent, are NOT common." The woman replied. "I-I'm not?" Lillica repeated, not believing the words herself. "Absolutely not. I was actually trying to net you, but those 3 nasty fish kept trying to deliberately get in my way. And as a result, my net broke." The woman said, with a pout. "You...Are you saying, you wanted me?" Lillica again repeated, her eyes wide. "Yup. I still do. I don't have a net, but I have a bucket. I was collecting pond stones." She said, and dumped the stones out of it, and put the bucket in the water. "If you like, we-" The woman didn't even get to finish her sentence, because Lillica all but dived into the bucket. The woman smiled. "I guess that's a yes. Well, we should get you home then, huh?" The woman smiled. Lillica stared up at the woman from inside of the bucket. "What's your name, anyway?" She asked the lady. "Me? My name's Momo. It's a pleasure to meet you." Momo said and grinned at her new torrent. "Cool, nice name! My name's Lillica! I can see we're going to be the best of friends!" Lillica smiled, and at that moment, the little 'absolutely not common' torrent knew that she would be happy for the rest of her life, with her new found friend, Momo.
