near the ocean, by the mountains,
kissed by waves of rolling sea
lived a scarred and hardened sailor
and his sister serendipity
hair and lips as red as coral
crystal eyes reflected sea
she slept on clouds of violet cotton
and stepped with grace and melody
her breath was like a blooming flower
her skin as white as ivory
the girl was no less than perfection
fine as china crockery
while she danced along the boardwalk
i counted stitches, three and three
to mend the dress she tore whilst waltzing
round the jagged, rocky sea
how i loved her! how i loathed her!
consumed by flame of jealousy
yearned to meet her, yearned to be her
alas, she never noticed me
all the soldiers, all the sailors
turned their heads and grinned with glee
when she graced them with her presence,
marv'lous serendipity
i took her hand december morning,
smiled, had her follow me
to collect the dress that i had finished
and promised her a cup of tea
she saw her dress in new condition
smiled, oh so radiantly
touched the hem of lilac satin
like a fine wisteria tree
she turned around to say her thanks
for my stitches, placed so carefully
but she couldn't, since i swiftly
sliced through flesh of ivory
how i laughed and how i cried!
i felt remorse and pain - and glee!
as i hacked this girl to pieces
poor gentle serendipity
i filled a canvas with her parts
tied it shut, took it with me
to a cliff above the water,
overlooking glassy sea
with a final kiss to red lips
that scarcely spoke a word to me
i tossed her down into the ocean
perfect serendipity
as days turned into weeks and months
they searched for serendipity
oh what a shame they never found her
never solved the mystery
now they all can't help but notice
how radiant i seem to be
in this dress of lilac satin
dancing by the moonlit sea
in the ocean, by the mountains,
a mile under rolling sea
no one's down there to admire
precious serendipity.
