Do you ever wonder what happens to magical objects that lay around the world, long forgotten by their creators? What about potions that don't get consumed by their intended victims? They can't lay around for just anybody to find. Someone has to clean up all the magical books, cursed necklaces, enchanted clocks, possessed dolls and any other kind of magical do-dad that gets left behind that mortals might discover.
It's Sane's job to find these items and collect them. He must then either remove their enchantment or at least contain it so it won't be discovered. He keeps most of these treasures in special rooms. However, he sometimes has to send them to other people who are better suited for keeping the object.
He wasn't born with the burden of this job, nor did he sign up for it. Instead he received his position as punishment from it's previous master. When the old man was ready to retire he searched for someone to take over the position and decided that Sane was perfect for the job. Having to leave his life of falling asleep in pubs behind, Sane set out to the foreign world of magic and for the first time in his life, he had a responsibility that he couldn't brush off.
One day, Sane will be able to retire too and hand his job off to someone. He jokingly says that he is going to give it to some charity worker who doesn't deserve the burden, but will honestly state that he will find someone like himself who needs to be "fixed".
Sane has a tendency to distance himself from his peers and stay inside his rooms with the items. He claims to stay in his rooms to avoid the others but Zee says that the magical items keep him prisoner in the rooms and torture his mind. The others have mixed feelings about Zee's statements, figuring he's probably just trying to scare everyone. But Sane can sometimes be heard muttering things like "why are they screaming?" and "I'm trying to help you!" from his room which leads everyone to wonder if Zee's theories might be true.
Sane virtually has no friends due to his conceited and self-centered attitude. He and Zee seem to have a rivalry and often bicker with each other and throw around insults. Despite this, the two seem to talk often and discuss many things. They probably do this because, while they are rivals, they consider each other to be around the same social class.
The only person he seems to actually like is Dira and he comes out of his rooms early in the morning to hang out with her while she's preparing breakfast. He is very protective of her but always seems to get nervous around her. Zee likes to tease him about having a crush and while Sane will always glare at him or reply with an insult, he never actually denies this.
