Sweetheart Kumos
StormAhoy! I hereby declare that from this day forward any citizen in my kingdom shall have sugary candy and sweets whenever he or she desires. Also however much he or she desires. For this is King Rockcandy's land and his people shall be pleased.
King Rockcandy made his declaration to all the citizens of his kingdom. His outrageous love for sweets and candy controlled him to make his kingdom out of candy. Every cottage, pathway and lamppost was made of the sweetest, most delicious candy batter. All of the scenery such as the grass and the trees were edible as well. Absolutely everything was made from something sweet even the king's castle was made from his favorite type of candy--rock candy.
The kings castle was all colors of the rainbow and sparkled in the sun when the light touched it. All of the citizens thought that the king was doing a fine job as leader of the people until one inexcusable afternoon. King Rockcandy was supposed to be entertaining all of the children in his kingdom and showing them what it means to be king. Not having any children of his own he did not realize that children need boundaries and cannot control their impulses like adults can. The king overheard the children state that at home they were given strict rules about candy. This however contradicted the kings orders. He declared that all citizens could have all the candy they want and could eat it whenever they chose to do so. The king got angry and told all of the children to help themselves to ANY candy around the castle. One little one spoke up and stated "--but our parents say that too much candy will give us a sugar rush and we won't be able to control ourselves--we will get tummy aches." The king replied --"You are to follow my order or you and your families will be banished from my kingdom."
The children agreed to the kings wish. So they ate all the candy they could find. Once the candy was gone they started gnawing on the tables, the chairs, the drapes, the chandelier! Anything that they could get their hands on they chewed and ate. King Rockcandy was soon sorry for what he had done! He rushed around pulling children off of the bookshelves and the tables. He pulled them off of the couches and the chairs but just as he sat them down they would get up and start gnawing on something else.
"What have I done! What have I done!" he proclaimed. Children! Children stop at once! The children payed him no mind. They continued to eat and eat. Gradually the walls and the ceilings started to fall down around him. My children! Please stop, please! With a thud! and a bang! King Rockcandy stood in the refuge of his once beautiful castle. It no longer sparkled, it now crumbled and crunched under his feet as he stood.
Once the castle had fallen all of the children lay in the candy dust their bellies full and aching from the mountainous amount of sugary sweets they had consumed. King Rockcandy stood in disbelief that his castle was gone and he had no one to blame but himself. The time had come for the children to return home to their parents. One by one the families came to the top of the hill where the King's castle once stood. They stood there in shock as they watched their children roll on the ground with very full and achy bellies. They glanced at their King as he began to weep--Citizens! I have made a terrible mistake. Please do not punish your children! as it is my fault they have done this. I proclaimed that their families would be banished if they did not follow my decree. The obliged my ramblings and now they have aching bellies and insatiable sweet tooths. King Rockcandy expected his citizens to be furious for what he had done. But they were quite the opposite. They were glad that their children had felt what it was like to eat so much sweets that their bellies ached. The children will now be more inclined to listen to us parents when we tell them too many sweets are not good for them. The King looked up at his citizens from his kneed position and stated So you forgive me then? The crowd clapped as the King stood up.
King Rockcandy turned and looked at his castle. Oh dear-- A citizen of a very small now round boy came up and said You will stay with us tonight and tomorrow we will start the rebuild of your castle. The King nodded and followed the family home. Moans and groans filled the air as the little ones tried to walk back to their homes. I'm never eating that much candy again! came from a few children. I feel sick came from another few.
The days passed and the King's castle was gradually getting built up again. Each day the citizens helped build and The King lent a hand as well. When it was built the king held a town meeting. He stood on his newly built balcony made from fresh rock candy and declared From this day forth I shall grant any adult over the age of 18 to be able to make the conscious decision to decide how much candy and sweets to eat. As well they may decide when they eat it. For those under this age restriction you must abide by your parents because they know what's best. Any deviation from this declaration shall result in punishment and in extreme circumstances banishment. The crowd cheered and all citizens of the land agreed to follow the declaration of the King.
