"Bad Little Mother"

Amnesiac
She was once part of a flock grazed on the hillsides of the Lake District. Then, in the oblivious way typical of her species, she ambled into the path of an automobile and suffered a glancing but lethal blow. Her flock ranged over a wide territory; her shepherd did not find her time. Several days passed before they spied her in a roadside ditch. By that point in time, her lamb had died for lack of milk. The shepherd buried her in shallow soil. Runoff awoke her. The new Schlechtes Kleines Mutter could not recall who she was or how she had come to be buried, save for a vague inkling that she did something bad to a baby. Not terribly bright to begin with, she centered her identity around this faintly remembered scrap.

Mournful
When all you know about yourself is that you did something very bad, it's impossibly to live happily. Mutter frets and dithers constantly when reminded that she once was someone else; she weeps when it returns to her mind that she failed a lamb. Generally, she is timid and reluctant to act, for fear that she will hurt another. However, as she is easily led, anyone kind can at least temporarily steer her away from the unknown and briefly lift her sadness.

Doting
Mutter's maternal instinct never wavered after her resurrection. As she lacks a lamb, and her mind is addled, instead she fusses over a strange array of small things she calls her babies. Some of these are not actually animate. However, they are her redemption, and as a kindness to her, Hannes ensures they receive either care or preservation so she will never wake and find one has died at her hooves.
