As a young boy, Briggs had loved the cold. Winter had been his favorite season, when the streets were transformed into a miniature wonderland and snow covered everything in gleaming white. But he supposed then, he at least had the protection of the warm, woolen clothes his mother had knit for him. Now cold was all he could remember, the abilities he had gained from the serum threatening to turn his blood to ice, freezing him from the inside out should he let down his guard in the slightest.
On any current map, just to the right of the epicenter of the city-state Beiruht is a blacked out hole, an ink blot swallowing up three blocks of what used to be part of the inner city. It is aptly (unimaginatively) named The Crater, and, according to the last census numbers taken of the region, home to approximately six-hundred residents and their families.
As far as the rest of the city is concerned, they are dead.
