Cantankerous
Welpen, the bull in the china shop. As a youngster with a foul temper, he cannot resist bait and easily winds up in arguments that turn physical fast as he runs out of wit against seasoned opponents like the dread bat Vergoldet, who takes pleasure in riling him up. Welpen retaliates to any and all criticisms, and compliments too. The later, he believes, are surely just lies. Stubborn to a fault, he refuses to see any good in himself even through the eyes of others.

Impulsive
And why would he? His nature leads him to make rash choices. He cannot resist bloodsport. The gore smeared on his muzzle is often fresh; he's the devil to the voles and rabbits of the hillsides. Mutter finds his activities extremely troublesome. He cannot even resist destroying his own possessions. If he tries to refrain from causing trouble, his energy pents up, and inevitably, redirects onto the nearest object. He leaves a trail of destruction in his wake.

Brooding
It bothers him. Though he is reluctant to admit it aloud, he sincerely wishes to be better and yearns to grow out of it. He studies Kupher, and unsuccessfully tries to mimic his refined airs. Kupher, of course, rejects his company, giving Welpen another reason to wallow miserably. He sits among his broken toys, scowling. That his aggression may someday benefit him and the household is a foreign notion to him.
