Are you okay?

Most people answer ‘yes’. A lot of them are telling the truth. A lot of them aren’t.

Do you need a friend?

Let me ask you something else… not ‘who’re you’, but rather… who do you wanna be? What do you wanna be? You can tell lil ol’ Merci.

I like listening to people.

I also like flowers, candy, soft things and runs through the woods.

See? We’re bonding!

So many people are hung up on themselves nowadays. They don’t know who they wanna be, or where they wanna go. They don’t see that no matter what they choose, the sun will sometimes shine and sometimes it’ll rain. Either way, we make it through the day.

Do you need a friend? I’ll be your friend. That’s what I wanna be.

Sometimes being a friend is hard. Sometimes people tell me it’s weird, weird to be friends with a pink doe. Sometimes people cry, sometimes they tell me they don’t want friends. Sometimes they lie. Sometimes they really do want friends.

Sometimes they just don’t know how to find them.

But I believe in them, and I believe in you. Look up at the sky, look at the clouds! That’s what friendship is, a million different fluffy blobs melding together. Sometimes they break apart and go their separate ways.

Clouds are funny things. They’re clouds, but they also change and morph into whatever shape they wanna be. Just like you and me.

The woods, the woods! Come with me.

The woods have a thousand trees, some big, some small. Some are happier than others. Some are withered and old, some are small and young. Some are in between. But they live together, and they breathe together. Just like you and me.

Are you okay? Merci's gotcha.

Sometimes you'll find a tree wilting in the dark corners of the woods. Look there, see? Is that you? It's okay. Even the saddest tree can be nurtured back to health with a little sunshine. I'll be your sunshine.

But this little tree, this little tree hasn't told its friends that it needs help. Sometimes trees lie. Sometimes trees really do want friends. Sometimes they just don't know how to find them.

Talk to me.

Together, we can do wonderful, beautiful things. Everyone has rainy days. Some people have them for longer. That's okay. It's okay. Rain can be fun, it makes big puddles to splash in. It makes reflections, it helps you find yourself. What do you see in your reflection?

Do you have gnarls and knots? Some trees do. I do. I have friends, I sometimes lose them. Just like clouds. But it's okay - although we drift apart, we both see the same sky. We're just traveling in different directions. Maybe one day we'll bump into each other again and share stories of where we’ve been.

Have you ever cried? Sometimes people cry. Sometimes they cry a lot. That’s okay. I cry too. Our tears make us stronger – like little plants, tasting rain for the first time. They grow into strong trees, we grow into strong hearts. I believe you are strong already.

Let’s be strong together.

Be as strong as the little plants and trees in the shady corners of the woods.

Be as open as the bright, endless sky.

Be as wondrous as the clouds that drift overhead.

You ARE the woods, you ARE the sky. And in due time, you can be the sunshine too. I’m your sunshine, I promise. Together we can spread our rays far and wide, to every corner of Subeta… and beyond.
