Kowin was a skilled thief, many years ago. He traveled all over the world stealing artifacts to sell on the black market. During a mission to recover sunken treasure in the Omen Islands, he had a run - in with Merana, who attempted to turn him into one of her Hydrus minions. He managed to escape, and traveled as far away as he could, hoping Merana would not be able to control him.

He arrived in Veta Lake, where he had some family. As if by fate, his brother and sister-in-law died in an accident soon after his arrival, leaving him to take care of their young son, Arision. He decided then it would be best to give up thievery. He currently works at the local museum.

Kowin keeps what stolen relics he has left in a chest in the attic. He also has the habit of smoking, which he doesn't recommend, but can't seem to kick himself.
