Yamori crept along the dimly lit tunnel, stopping dead still at every slight noise. If she were to be discovered now who knows what would happen. After a moment the noises stopped and she continued her stealthy, slow way forward. According to the old woman she spoke to in the village marketplace, this was the right place... now all she had to do was get there, claim her prize and be off before the inhabitants realized it was gone. Easier said than done. Unfortunately none of the villagers could tell her what type of creature the inhabitants were so she was going in blind.

She came to a cross intersection in the tunnels. From her crude map she determined the best way was left and silently padded down the sloping corridor, ears twitching for any sign of danger. After a few minutes of walking a great slithering sound ahead of her made her halt. She knew there was a guardian of the treasure she sought, but it was again unclear from the villagers tales exactly what the creature was or how to get past it. Many of the rumours from the few villages around here hinted it might possibly be some kind of large serpent, but there were many serpent-like creatures one could come across in a cave like this, some more lethal than others. The sound came again but did not seem to be coming toward her. Yamori moved forward again, even more cautious than ever.

The tunnel ahead became brighter and she could see it opened into a large cavern. She saw a few small shapes moving about in the chamber, but could not make out what they were. Time for a spell she thought and stopped at a curved part of the tunnel several yards from the entrance. She silently rummaged about in one of the many pouches she carried and pulled out a tiny ball of sap no larger than a pea. Grimacing and bracing herself, she plucked out one of her eyelashes. After a few seconds of blinking hard at the slight pain, she proceeded to wrap the eyelash inside the sap, forming a slight elongated shape. Holding this in one hand she then began to mutter under her breath. In her hand the sap glowed a bright cobalt blue for a brief moment, then disappeared. Seconds later Yamori also vanished from sight.

Much better she thought and brushing off her hands absently she continued along toward the opening of the cavern. Peering around the opening she saw an immense cavern, decorated in draperies of dark purples, silver and gold. Several humanoid creatures were placing baskets of food and priceless items in front of a statue of a snake, whose many coils made it as tall as her hut. The eyes of the statue were giant rubies, roughly the size of her thumb and Yamori's eyes glowed. Although they would very soon become a part of her private collection, they were not her main goal. At the very foot of the statue, set into a small end coil was a large egg shaped gem the size of her fist. It was dark purple in colour, with hundreds of facets shimmering and glowed from an inner light, not from any reflection of torches. This was her prize. The trick now was how to get it without getting caught...

Yamori loves treasure... specifically, she adores all forms of crystals and gems. No matter what it is or where it has been hidden she will venture out to retrieve it from it's spot and add it to her hoard. Sometimes it is the adventure itself that makes the treasure worth keeping. To assist in gathering her treasures to her (and keeping it from others who would steal it back from her) she learns magic. All forms of spells and magic are her second love.)
