Born on October 15, 2000, Ginger was a Christmas puppy to me and my sisters. I was 10 years old at the time and ecstatic to invite a golden retriever puppy into my life. I remember her personality being very kind and gentle, but most of all her being my best friend and there when I needed her comfort. She always seemed to know when something was wrong. My nickname for her was always 'Gingey' On a cold day in December 2005, something just didn't seem right our 5 year old girl. She was lethargic and depressed. We noticed a few days later her back leg had swollen to three times the normal size. My parents took her to the vet (I was 15 at the time). They came back with news that she had both Lyme Disease and Lymphoma. There weren't many options because it had gone undetected and spread before we even knew it. We all made the tough decision to euthanize our sweet girl. On January 3, 2006, Ginger left our world and went to the Rainbow Bridge.

Because of Ginger, I fell in love with the breed. I am now a college graduate and now have my own Golden Retriever named Beamer. I see so much of her in him, I know that you are watching over both of us. I miss you. I love you. Run free, sweet girl. I know you are looking down on us.
