Chie is a perky, upbeat teenager attending Yasogami High School in Inaba, Japan. Following unusual events around the time of the arrival of a silver-haired male student, she quickly makes friends with him and others. Together, they try to solve the mystery plaguing Inaba.

Yukiko, one of her first and best friends, is very close with Chie and opens up to her most when she is around. The two are inseparable and Chie will do anything to protect her dearest friend.

Chie enjoys martial arts immensely, watching kung-fu movies as well as practicing and training her moves. However, she cannot cook despite continuously trying to prove others wrong with competitions.
