Sitting in the dark, I can't forget.
Even now, I realize the time I'll never get
Another story of the Bitter Pills of Fate.
I can't go back again. I can't go back again...
But you asked me to love you and I did.
Traded my emotions for a contract to commit

And when I got away, I only got so far. The Other Me Is Dead.
I hear his voice inside my head...
We were never alive, and we won't be born again.
But I'll never survive with Dead Memories in my heart.
You told me to love you and I did. Tied my soul into a knot and got me to submit.

So when I got away, I only kept my scars. The Other Me Is Gone.
Now I don't know where I belong...
We were never alive, and we won't be born again.
But I'll never survive with Dead Memories in my heart.

Rivet was raised by a group of murderous males known as The Brutes. These males would sneak into territories while the hunters were away and kill all the pups, then breed with all the females. But that is only the beginning of the terror. When the new pups are born, they invade once more, stealing the male offspring and killing the rest. Their raids leave packs in tatters, families torn apart. Rivet was one of these stolen pups, forced to fight for his life every day against the other angry pups.
When he reached maturity, he joined the other grown males on the hunt for packs to invade. He was to spread his genes along with the other males to keep their numbers up. But on his first invasion he came face to face with a terrible decision..
He dives into a den, ready to tear into puppy flesh and force the mother wolf to comply. But staring into her eyes, he instantly becomes sick at the sight of the fear and hate in her eyes. He turns to leave, ignoring the threats of death snarled at him by the other males.
He is met by an onslaught of tooth and claw as the lead Brutes lash out at the traitor. Rivet rips and tears into them, fighting to escape. He would not be a part of this terrible group any longer. Finally, bleeding and weak, he escapes their grasp and disappears into the forest.
Inexperienced, Rivet finds himself spending cold, lonely nights listening to the sound of his stomach growling. By day, he continues moving farther and farther from the marks of the Brutes. He wouldn't let himself be caught.
Moons pass, and Rivet became a strong, handsome male. He'd only crossed paths with the Brutes a couple times, and these battles are what inspired him to gain strength and become strong. His explorations brought him to a valley ruled over by a lone female alphess. The pack residing below consisted of other outcasts like himself. He was welcomed in as a Guard, and quickly found his place amongst the other members.
During his stay, he gained two admirers - the alphess, and a younger female named Lexa. The two competed for his attention often, so Rivet hardly got any alone time. But before he could choose between the two females, the decision was made for him. The flaws that had separated these outcasts from their original families proved too great, and fights began breaking out amongst the groups in the valley. Even the fair Lexa lashed out at Rivet. The Alphess decided the only way to calm the fire was to give the pack an Alpha. Rivet was sure she'd choose him, and together they would bring peace to the valley.. but the crazed female had other ideas.
The alphess gathers the pack together and reveals her challenge. Beneath her paw is a female of only about six moons, too terrified to try and escape. The alphess declares whomever catches and returns this young female, dead or alive, will become the alpha. Mortified, Rivet could only imagine what the young one would endure under the jaws of all these desperate males. Disgusted, he snarls at the alphess and turns to leave. Taken aback, she pleads with him to stay and try the challenge, for surely he would win. He retorts, questioning her confidence in him.. For if she was so sure he would win, why didn't she just choose him in the first place? Not convinced, and done with this group of broken minds, he leaves. The cries and wails of the young female being hunted in the trees fill his ears behind him as he climbs the hills for the last time.
While trekking through the forest in search of the next place to rest, Rivet finds himself in trouble again. One of his hind legs is nearly snapped off by a pair of metal jaws! He hadn't even smelled the trap hidden in the foliage. In pain, he collapses with a yelp as stars shoot across his vision. Through the blur, he spots a tall creature wielding a metal rod approaching him. Seeing his death, Damohn lashes out with his teeth and tears flesh from the creature's outstretched paw. Snarling, the creature turns its rod on him, and a flash of light and the sound of thunder are the last things Rivet comprehends before everything goes black. The cold embrace of death carries him away.
Cursing, the poacher knows his rash decision will cost him his job and possibly the pay for this run. He was paid by the scientists to CAPTURE beasts, not kill them. It would ruin their research! But he certainly couldn't leave this body here, or the wardens would catch him for sure. With more swears, he throws the body in the back of his pickup and speeds off toward the hidden lab.
Once there, the scientists waste no time in firing the poacher. The man storms out, swearing he'll be back. But his threats fall on deaf ears as the scientists get to work trying to revive the wolf. Half the organs are lost, too dead to revive. Others are damaged by the bullet and bear-trap and cannot be repaired. But that doesn't stop them. It’s just an opportunity to test their skills, and a more willing subject for their experimentation. After shearing away his pelt, they replace his skeleton and the majority of his organs with metal and wire, and place a computer chip in his brain to run the artificial pieces. Unfortunately, each subject the scientists work on awaken with lost memory, and Rivet is no different. He is reborn as a blank. He doesn't even remember his own species! Thrown in a cage, the drooling mess that is Rivet patiently waits to be fed each day like all the other monstrosities.
What the scientists didn't count on was Rivet’s ability to remember patterns.. The stupid men believed the wolf to be lame, and so they often leave the door to his cage open while they feed him. With each passing day, Rivet’s mind slowly begins to click into place. Why was he in a cage? Why did these oily, lanky creatures surround him each day? None of this seems very normal.. How can I get out?
He makes his move one sunny day, when his cage is opened and the food bowl is filled. Something about the sight of the outstretched paw, and the greasy smell of the creature before him, causes his brain to snap. Sparks fly from the plugs in his skull where the wires are attached, and he flies out of the cage, jaws agape. He latches onto the thin meat of the creature's face and tears it free. The other men in the room panic, but fall quickly under his rage. Security tries to push through the metal door, but are slowed by a couple bodies blocking the way. Rivet turns on them, and receives a bullet to the face. Thankfully, his new metal skeleton deflects the bullet, and only the skin is removed. He leaps up and fells the guards, squeezing through the door and bursting through the nearest window. From there, memories flood his mind. The smell of the grasses, trees, scent markers, and foliage send sparks flying from his wiring as it all comes rushing back to him. As he bolts toward freedom, he swears to himself never to let this happen to any other creature. He would make sure these creatures never tamper with life or death again. Little does he know the vengeful poacher won't be far behind..
This is an old story based on RPs from over ten years ago! I plan to rewrite his story, improving on the flow while still keeping true to the main events.
