The forest as dry with the heat of summer. However, the girl walking through it was very cold. Cold in temperature, that is. She was cloaked in a white/blue dress with a white shawl, and her brown hair had mini icicles embedded in the strands. She watched the scene unfold down the ravine. There was a lakefront cabin in the middle of a clearing. The clearing had countless stumps where trees had obviously been cut down. Adaira held back a gasp and watched from her position behind the tree. She had heard it was bad...but she didn't know it was this bad.
Adaira watched as a relatively fat man and his two children made their way to the front door. The male teen was dressed in the finest clothes, resembling his father on a much slimmer scale. The female teen was dressed in nature-inspired clothing with flowers on her fingers and a floral belt. She looked like the total opposite of her brother and father. She seemed upset to be here; after all, she had a scowl perfectly placed upon her face. Adaira narrowed her eyes and wondered, what was up with this family?
The doorbell rang and the sound echoed faintly through the forest. An equally jovial man opened the door, his two children appearing at his side. Both the male and female teen were dressed in dress clothes, looking professional. They had scowls equal to the fat man's daughter. What was happening here? This was surely a strange arrangement. "Adaira! Come on, we have to go inside the house! Adaira heard her father call her and walked over to him. He was dressed in a black suit, ready for the dinner. "Come on, let's walk down." He went in front of her and walked down to the house.
Adaira waited a couple seconds before following her father. She wasn't exactly ready for this dinner...she had been dreading it for a while now. But judging by the other children's looks, she might as well be happy. After all, someone had to be.
