Lifting my head up, I cautiously take in my surroundings. I am all alone. I bring my head down again and continue my feeding. I know it's dangerous to be away from the others, but there is not enough food to sustain us all. I need to keep up my strength in order to be able to run faster than my predators. If I can't, then I can consider myself dead.
SNAP
Whipping my head around, I quickly scan my surroundings. That was definitely unnatural. My eyes grow wide as I try to identify any movement in the thick foliage to my left where I believe the source of the noise to be. Nothing. The sound does not repeat either so I brush it off and return to my grazing.
Suddenly I hear an angry growl to my right. I turn my entire body to face the intruder, bad move. Realizing my mistake I leap to the side and begin my escape.
That's when it hits me. It feels like I am being crushed by a mountain. I suddenly find myself on my back, staring into the hungry eyes of a carnivore. I am paralyzed from the weight, but mostly from fear. Closing my eyes, I leap into my future...

In this life it is eat or be eaten; kill or be killed. Survival of the fittest. However, it's not only this life. Every life plays the same game. It is a never ending cycle of bloodshed and death. What's the point of trying when in the end you know that you'll once again be a part of the game? You cannot quit, no matter how poorly you play.

I slow my breathing, trying my best to concentrate on the task at hand. It has been two days since my last meal, and I am in dire need of something, anything. Without a meal, I will be unable to care for the young ones. They are too young to crave the taste of fresh blood, but I still need it.
Crouching low in the grass, I slowly make my way to my target. I picked this one out carefully. It was foolish enough to separate itself from its herd. Bad for it, but perfect for me. There is a better chance for me to get closer before I am detected.
Only one thought is running through my mind: kill. Not yet, I tell myself. I have to get closer to ensure a successful capture. I cannot afford to miss this meal. Suddenly the wind changes direction, blowing my bloodthirsty scent right towards my prey. Now. I lunge forwards, chasing the frightened creature. My heart begins to beat faster, instinct taking over my body. I extend my claws, anticipating the right time to make my move.
It's over all to soon. My claws gain purchase in the soft flesh of my prey, dragging it down to the soft ground below. Pinning it down, I dodge deadly limbs flailing near my head. With one final growl I clamp my jaws down and tear my way into my future...
