We've all heard of karma. What goes around, comes around, how you shouldn't do something bad, because it will come back to you threefold. Some of us believe in it, some don't. But in some corners of the world, people whisper of a spirit, a god, if you will, who is the literal embodiment of karma. Taking the shape of a large buck, swirled with ethereal mists, this creature is said to show up when there has been an especially heinous crime or incident. People swear they see him out of the corners of their eyes, lurking, watching. A short time after the sightings begin, the person responsible for the awful act is found, dead, with strange swirling lines carved into their flesh, an expression of terror frozen on their face. The meaning of the lines is unclear, however, the reason for the death is perfectly clear. The corpse is left near or at the scene where the crime happened, left for the victims, to know that karma has seen their pain and responded accordingly. Some hank of hair, article of clothing, or other item belonging to the dead always seems to be missing as well, taken as a trophy some say. Others whisper the name 'Nazca' and nod sagely, glad they've never been on the receiving end of this particularly gruesome version of karma. But all agree it's one less bad person in the world, after all, no one innocent has ever been taken this way. Karma, and Nazca, doesn't make mistakes, and neither should you, if you don't wish to be in his sights.
