It's been over a decade, and I still miss fiercely and think of you so much.

You were my constant companion and confidante through a very long and turbulent period in my life growing up. You loved me unconditionally when I needed it, when no one else would or did, not even myself. You never judged me or resented me, even if you didn't always understand me. You were there for me every time I was happy or sad or inbetween. You listened to everything I said with the strictest confidence no matter how dumb or important the secret--or even when it wasn't a secret at all and I just needed someone to talk to and have companionship.

My greatest regret is that circumstances meant I could not be with you when you had to move on from here. You were there for me through everything, and I could not be there when you needed me. I am sorry for that, for always.

I do not know what comes after this existence, or how I feel about anything related to it, but: I hope you were happy with me as your person while you were alive, I hope you thought you picked the right person that day at the pound, and I hope I get to see you again some day, in some manner.

I would not have survived a lot of things without your presence, to be here now. I owe so much to you.
