These are all different types of love felt be us all. We may not experience all of them, but in a society, we will definitely experience at least a couple.

But what IS Love?

There have been many different answers given to this question, and not all are the same, nor may they all be correct. However, similarities can be found. Such as:
- A feeling of warm emotions and positive thoughts towards another person.
- A deep sense of caring.
- Wanting to know information and to spend time in the presence of the other.
- Feeling compassion and wanting the best for the other person.
- Feeling some commitment to their wellbeing.

7 Types of Love

The ancient Greeks had 7 different types of love. In today's society, people are usually more aware of romantic love than any other, but this is only one aspect.

1. Eros
Eros is a love of the body in a sexual, lustful and/or passionate nature. It was thought of as a type of madness that gets a person into trouble. Eros was the Greek god of Love who could shoot the unwary with arrows which made them 'fall' into love. The Romans, who adapted Greek gods to their own, renamed him Cupid.
Example: a young couple who meet, feel attracted and fall immediately into lust with each other.

2. Philia
This is a love of the mind. A connection of minds as well as hearts. It is where the word 'platonic' comes from as it is separate from physical attraction.
Example: two friends can discuss deep subjects and insights in an honest and open manner.
