The duke of a highly contested Grenvellan duchy, the young Alder has survived a few assassination attempts at the hands of his older brother. Alder never wanted to be a leader of anything, he wanted to study at the university. He spends most of his time cloistered in the library. The majority of the actual ruling seems to be done by his husband, Kasimir, who seems far more interested in weilding the power that burdens Alder so terribly.
