A long time ago there was a cave. This cave was full of beautiful jewels and stones, like amethyst, sapphires, and rubies. Guarding this cave was a dragon, a dragon who spent his life watching over the treasures that lie deep in the caverns darkness. As a young dragon he was always the most cunning, the most bright, and the most handsome of all his brothers and sisters. From the moment he was the first to break out of his shell, and crawl to his mother for warmth his mother knew he was something special. So his mother named him Belvidere, because it means "beautiful to see".

While he was still young his mother would say, "Bel, you hatched under the brightest star, making you the smartest. And Bel, You were hatched under a star that shoots across the night sky, making you the fastest, and you know what else Bel, you were hatched under a beautiful midnight sky, with a moon that was full and which shined through the cavern walls and lit the jewels that dwell here. That is why you are so beautiful to see".

As Belvidere grew, his siblings left the cavern they once called home. But their mother stayed, and so Belvidere stayed. But one cold winter, his mother took ill. Knowing she had little time left to her life she called on Belvidere. "Bel" she said, "When I pass on to my new life, promise me that you will stay here and guard what has made you what you are." Then she sang only this with her last weak breath;

As a tear rolled down over Belvidere's cheek, he nuzzled his mother one last time before her eyes closed forever. He decided then and there no one was going to come near the cavern only himself, and if anyone dared to get to close elimination would be his option.

So for as many years as Belvidere had left, he spent them in the jewel filled cavern. Echoing in it's walls the song his mother sang, and every now and again he could hear her voice telling him how he became the dragon he is. How he was hatched under the brightest star, making him the smartest. That he was hatched under a star that shoots across the night sky, which made him the fastest; and he was hatched under a beautiful midnight sky, with a moon that was full and which shined through the cavern walls and lit the jewels that dwelled there, which was making him oh so beautiful to see.
