If it shines, it's mine

In the shadowy obsidian forest, where moonlight struggled to shine through, King took his first breaths. Born into what felt like nothingness, only shadow all around, his fur absorved inky blackness. It’s not so bad once you get used to it, but being used to it doesn’t mean it’s what you want.

King wanted to thrive in the shadows, that’s true. But when your only companions are the whispers of the night, you crave more than what your home is able to offer.

Atop the tallest tree he caught a glimpse of the rays of moonlight that teased the forest’s canopy, a memory he’d never forget. Beautiful lights, that’s what is missing in my life.

As time passed, his sensitive ears captured murmurs of the world outside his forest that crept into his heart. Tales of things that defied darkness ignited a bright flame inside him. And beyond the confines of his sanctuary, King could not resist. All that glows will belong to me.

Venturing into many realms, those touched by people, those underground where no one dared go, King went to discover more treasure. Treasure that gleamed like stars. Gold and jewels became his friends, their brilliance a stark contrast to the shadows that once surrounded him.

Some may call it greed, others see it as an obsession. I call it a need, a hunger.

Now he’s known far and wide. An arbiter of opulence is what they call him. A silhouette that you can see against the gleam of his amassed treasures - his vast collection, golden coins, dazzling jewels, precious artifacts. But ostentation is not what he is after, he doesn't care about flaunting wealth, the only thing King seeks is the beauty of light.
