You find yourself at the edge of a lake, staring out at the gently rippling waters. You feel at ease for a while, just standing there, enjoying the view of the mountains in the distances, and the light breeze against your skin. It seems like wonderful luck that you found a spot as wonderful as this to enjoy by yourself.
But, after a few minutes, the water changes in a way you couldn't have expected. It's surface swirls, and it looks as if there was quite a bit of oil in it - it holds faded colors of the rainbow - though you know there can't be. Your brow furrows in confusion, and you look harder. It goes on for as far as you can see.
"I know," a voice suddenly says to your left. You nearly jump out of your skin and clutch your heart. "It is rather strange, isn't it? I, myself, am still fairly confused by it."
The mysterious voice is a rather large Spectrum Montre, who stands with his front paws in the water, his tail lazily swishing from side to side. His pelt and folded wings are lighter than typical, and the top of his muzzle is gray, as well as a stripe down his back. He glances at you from the corner of his eyes, and he gives a small, amused grin.
"I'm very sorry, how rude of me. I didn't mean to startle you. I tend to sneak up on people without realizing. It's a terrible habit."
He slowly steps back from the water, and sits back on his hind legs, watching the lake return to normal. Instead, the ground beneath him holds the oily multi-colored hue. He unfolds his wings, nearly knocking you over, and gives a long yawn that ends in a bit of a squeak. He chuckles to himself.
"You seem nervous, friend. Please sit down and stay a while. I wont bite, I promise."
He sighs, and his eyes glaze over as he stares off in the distance.
"It isn't often I find company. Usually, I wander around by my lonesome. My lover, he's the only person I have left, but he doesn't come by much. He's much to busy. Up there. I can't remember the last time I saw him. It's my fault he's stuck in that mess. But really...I had no choice. I just couldn't...couldn't..."
He looks up towards the clouds, and then lies down on the ground, resting his head between his paws solemnly. He lets his eyelids flutter closed, and his tail curls around his body, the end fluff still twitching back and forth. There's a long, silent pause, and you start to wonder if maybe he's drifted off to sleep, but then he speaks again.
"But solitude, it isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It helps you become sure of who you really are. Who you want to be. Who your true companions are. I can sense that you are troubled. Take this opportunity to stop and think. Take a walk through nature, and just think. Just think. You will soon know what you need to do."
You wonder what he means by that. You turn to face him, opening you mouth to speak, but you stop.
He is gone. The ground where he was a second earlier still shines in the light for a moment.
