Since she was little, Aries dreamed of greatness. Fascinated by her father’s bedtime stories, she sought to be the first mortal to find the “Forbidden Peach Garden.” Her family and friends pleaded for her to give up such a futile venture, but none could change her mind. The day she set out on her journey was filled with tears and well wishes. Surrounded by her kin, Aries accepted their gifts and promised to bring back glory in return.

She wandered throughout the universe, completing a thousand challenges - each one more difficult than the next. Rather than give up when she failed, Aries would continue to try time and time again. Her persistence combined with her wit and cunning allowed her to overcome any test the gods thew at her. At last, she was granted a single peach. Overjoyed with her newfound immortality, she rushed home excited to share the tales of her adventure with her people.

...But centuries had passed. A decade through space had turned into a several lifetimes in the mortal world. Too late did Aries realize the true cost of her glory. Each year, Mars had inched closer to the sun. Its once lush and thriving climate was replaced by arid, desert-lands. Now, its environment is incapable of supporting life. As the last of her kind, Aries experiences a deep sense of loneliness that can only be filled by the past.

Some admire Aries for her resilience, and view her story as inspirational: showing us what we are able to accomplish by not giving up in the face of failure. While others view her story as cautionary tale, warning those to not sacrifice the little things in life in the pursuit of greatness. Which one are you?
