Beau is a selfless boy whom is immensely loyal, observant, and very solitary. Because of his tendencies to spend his time alone, he created someone to share his innermost dreams with.
Imagination is the entity that helps guide Beau in times of trouble and doubt. Beau created Imagination one rainy day when he felt most alone and extremely depressed. You see, Beau has no family. He doesnâ€™t even know what a family is, and nobody is sure where Beau really came from. His entire existence is very much a mystery, because his dreams are his reality. In his dreams, he is alone. His entire mind is a mystery. He currently resides in a Mental Health Facility, suffering from schizophrenia.

The rain forest was alive with a symphony of colors and sounds, and was clearly not like any other forest. A glimpse of new and strange life could be seen even in the tiniest bead of water resting upon an ancient tree. Atop the magical trees was a small group of sprites. The tiny beings flew out of the forest, and into a meadow of sunflowers that were dancing in the soft sun. In the middle of the field was a stunningly beautiful woman with grass-green hair and violet-blue eyes. As the wood sprites neared her, Imagination looked up and smiled. Next to her was a modest boy with a solemn face. His hair was white, and his eyes a striking blue that seemed so very profound and haunting. He wore a set of colorless hospital clothes with freshly plucked sunflower petals on his shoulders and in his hair that had been sprinkled upon him.

The boy looked at his imaginary companion and couldnâ€™t help but smile at her. She was the only thing protecting him from the demons that haunted his psyche. Imagination stood and brushed some stray petals off her arms and legs.

â€œBeau, itâ€™s time for you to go back. Youâ€™ve been here for far too many days now. Those people with the needles are going to poke you if you donâ€™t wake up!â€ Imagination wagged a slender finger at him lightheartedly and gave a small, girlish giggle. Though the gesture may have been good-humored, both Beau and Imagination both knew that it was serious. She was right. Beau needed to return to reality. It was getting harder and harder for him to distinguish between what was real and what was in his mind.

â€œWill I ever get to stay here, Magi?â€ Beau asked softly, his eyes cast to the ground. Imagination smiled a little and lifted Beauâ€™s chin up, forcing him to look at her.

â€œOne day, Beau. Until that day comes, I want you to keep this with you and think of me.â€ Imagination picked up Beauâ€™s slender hand and placed a peacock feather across his palm. Beauâ€™s fingers closed around the beautifully colored feather and a tiny grin tugged at his lips. Before he could blink, he felt Imaginationâ€™s lips upon his own. Beauâ€™s cheeks flushed a scarlet red immediately, and he felt chills run up his spine, causing him to lean into that moment of intimacy. Just as quickly as that small moment occurred, it ended. Imagination vanished, and all the remained was a tiny blue butterfly, fluttering away in the soft breeze. Beau watched the butterfly go, and then returned his attention to the feather. His heart was pounding and his mind was racing. He knew he would never let that feather go.
