Writing down my thoughts lalala

-Protects a large forest area that was completely destroyed by the fire (blackened trees, grey ash as ground, etc. Even after decades have passed)
-Whenever harm/destruction/pollution is done to the area the Kirin is tainted (Skin turns grey-er)
-Tainted = Loss of control of temper, less control over magic to heal the area (When loss of temper occurs Fern might blow fire from his mouth and or shoot it from his hands)
-Wary of strangers but foolishly trusting when accepting gifts (Specifically gifts relating to the area he protects like bird seed and small trees to plant)
-Lonely but psychs himself that the area he protects and the critters that dwell within are enough (They're not but don't tell him that)
-Over protective of children
-Senses intentions when magic is strong (Will scare those with negative intent away if necessary and will protect people/animals who are hurt, lost, or simply traveling through)

Fern's mother and father guarded a nobleman and his wife as well as their young daughter. A fire broke out and Fern was told to protect the child. Fern's parents as well as the nobles were killed in the fire (The house collapsed). Fern tried to save the child but the child was also killed. Fern felt tied to the remains of the home. He now guards a dead (burned) forest that still is covered in ashes. Fern is constantly trying to bring new life to the area and will protect anyone who is passing through or lost, as long as their intentions are good. Protective of children to the point he will guard them from their own parents until he fully trusts them.
