Looking at me, you might call me a Nightmare. Something fashioned by Hades himself to guard the gates of Morpheus's realm--or to rampage it. But I'm not. Well, I can be, if you annoy me, but right now let's just say I'm not.

I'm part of a group called the Dream-Catchers. We track down Nightmares and kill them. There's no way of eradicating Nightmares completely--they reproduce too quickly, like bacteria--but we can at least thin their population enough to make a difference.

You might think that what I do is pointless--why bother hunting Nightmares? The job's already done. The person asleep is already scared out of their wits, especially after watching me tear out the heart of their Nightmare. But it's worse than that. If we let the Nightmares run wild, they'd eventually overpopulate and break out of their realm and into the real world. And what a fresh hell that would be, as you can probably imagine. Everyone's worst fears--or even just the embodiment of fear itself--would become reality.

So be grateful, mortal. Sleep deeply and know that we, the Dream-Catchers, are always on guard.
