Bandit's Backstory
Most children choose an owl or a cat for a pet - perhaps even a rat or a toad. But Wesley is different from other children. Wesley wanted a special pet - a companion for playtime adventures in a small London yard and long hours of study at Hogwarts.
Enter Bandit.
Bandit was born at a magical menagerie in France. She wasn't supposed to come home with the Lee family - oh, no, not at all. The Lee's family pet was a stubborn chinchilla named Loki. But you know how annoying children can be when they want something. Wesley cried and cried until the family finally gave in and returned to the menagerie to see "Bandit" one last time.
"You know her name is Cookie, right?" the owner, Pixi, said as she stroked the ferret's head. "And she's a girl."
But five-year-old Wesley would not have any of it. He crossed his little arms and ground his foot into the gravel outside the menagerie. "His name is Bandit and he's a boy!" he pouted.
The owner of the menagerie bemusedly gave up her "precious" ferret. Cookie was the runt of her litter, but how was a five-year-old to know? To Wesley, Bandit was the perfect playmate, not a runt who had been picked on by her peers.
As Wesley grew and the little menagerie in France became a distant memory, he finally came to understand that his beloved Bandit was indeed a girl. Instead of changing the name he had given her, however, he lovingly dubbed her "Cookie Bandit." And Cookie Bandit she became.
Bandit went on to become Wesley's best friend in the years they waited to make the magical journey to Hogwarts. They only had each other in the two lonely years they waited to join Rylee and Loki.
What adventures will await Wesley and Bandit in the enchanted castle? Will they become they first ever adventurers to poke the giant squid with a stick - and live to tell the tale? Or will they spend the rest of their young lives up to their ears in dirty cauldrons in detention?
