Lord Aharon
A shadow lurked in the window of the highest room in the entire building. Lord Aharon looked out over the grounds and felt the weight of responsibility. As the oldest sibling in the family, it was his job to overlook the other five and make sure everything okay.
Did the nurse who takes care of Yosef-Liam come on time? Was Ester-Rut fed? Did Moshe-Moriel break something, yet again, and if so, did the mess need to be cleaned up?
And those were just the minor things. Maintaining the grounds and home were also his responsibility, and as the breadwinner in the house, he still needed to look over his business's accounting records and make sure he had the money to afford all of his families' necessities and desires.
There was a lot to think about, and Lord Aharon knew he was prone to bouts of brooding as a result of all of his responsibilities. Lady Chaviva, the next oldest, was the one who brought joy and life to the family, while making sure everything else was more or less in order. He wished that he could handle things with the same calm, but firm demeanor as her, but it wasn't in his personality.
So he watched.
It was easily to slip quietly around the house and verify that everything was okay, everyone was still alive, and nothing had been set on fire. It was a daily patrol he had grown accustomed to doing, and he felt it was absolutely essential that he take on this role. Everyone else was much more joyous and carefree, and he would hate it if the burdens he handled crushed their spirits.
A flash outside caught his attention and pulled him from his other worries. It was winter, so his family spent most days inside. What was going on?
And then he caught it again. Lady Chaviva and Besora-Tova were outside, having a friendly snowball fight. He could also see a wrapped up figure who was plopped down in the snow, making a fat snow angel. Though he couldn't see the face, he knew with utmost certainty that it was Moshe-Moriel, who could manage to even mess up snow.
Besora-Tova's laughter echoed through the otherwise still, winter air, and Lord Aharon smiled. Besora-Tova was quiet and withdrawn, but it would be just like Lady Chaviva to coax Besora-Tova out of her shell, if only for one afternoon.
He turned away from the window and set about doing other work. He had been comforted by the scene. His family was happy, and even if it was just for the moment, everything was alright.
