Once, Faulkner was a carefree pirate, looting and pillaging aimlessly with his fellows. His great passion was travel, however, and the pirating was a secondary venture intended mainly to finance his travels. One day, after a nasty disagreement with his captain over some of the more unsavory practices the captain was using, Faulkner was unceremoniously dropped off to meet his end at the hands of the endless ocean. Set adrift at sea by his former compatriots, Faulkner drifted on the tiny life raft he'd been provided with for what felt like ages, armed only with meager supplies and lots of rum (for even these pirates weren't completely heartless). When he finally passed out due to exhaustion and malnutrition, he thought he was done for.

However, when he woke up and found himself in Theede, it was not due to entering as a deceased mortal. He now found himself to be a part of the entourage of the gods.
