All was well in Alÿss's life; she was a powerful sorceress, a wealthy heiress to be married to her one true love. Except the night before their wedding, she caught her fiancée with another woman. She went mad then, and was locked away by her family for years.
Unbeknownst to them, she began to dabble in darker magics. Eventually, she prepared a potion that was said to grant the drinker a heart of unbreakable ice. When she woke after drinking it, her appearance had changed to match her icy heart, and while her magic was now limited only to ice, she found it to be devastatingly powerful...

She has wandered the world, living a life that would have horrified her respectable and conservative family. The potion, in ending her life, granted her immortality, and over the centuries her power has increased to a level bordering on the divine. Bound to a glacier in the depths of Arctic Frost as a warning from the goddesses of Subeta, she has become, in a sense, an elemental spirit. She cannot stray far from the remnants of her glacier, which was shattered several years ago, and is very bitter and reclusive, condemning any and all human emotion. She is a deadly opponent, both in battle and in the occasional drinking contest.
