Were the only words that managed to escape... Such a beast was unable to thrive in a society of “sanity” or as they lie,
freedom. He was told that he would belong, that he would be free. Unfortunately, these people -in his eyes they were
animals- lied through their teeth. Was he the one without a soul? Or was he the only one that had one…
Do I have a soul…It no longer matters, he would be in his own sanctuary now. One with no pain, fear, or insanity, but with complete liberty.
Perhaps, his tragedy was destined; he was after all, one of the few left of his kind. His race was nothing but imperfection and a lab’s incomplete research. Each one was its own individual, only few of their traits were found in every being- brute strength and the need to be isolated. How such a race escaped is still unknown. However, howheescaped was confined to the mind of only one…one with a soul. Who it was no one knows, nor does Verantio, or as the lab called him “Imperfection.”
Verantio was the creation of a boy’s radiant imagination. Can imagination be called radiant? In this rather special case, any word is possible. This boy, like Veran, hoped of life outside of his confinement. He had no friends or family to speak of. His closest friend was his paint brush, accompanied by black ink and a neglected sketch book that had been used; just like the boy. It’s pages were adorned with art of Veran and his design, the book itself was titled Veran-A Boy’s Only Friend. He roamed the streets until he reached the steps of a lab It’s appearance was more industrial than sophisticated and intelligent; it emitted an undesirable atmosphere. He came to this dreaded place whenever he was in need of testing, or was needed for research. This boy was known as Vivid; each subject was given a name based on their traits. Strangely today he was needed for neither, but for a more crucial reason. His demand was a shock to the scientists. They said it was impossible and that a mere piece of paper with a drawing could not be brought to life. The boy stood by his request and reminded them that their studies and test were inhumane and that he would reveal them if they did not even try to carry out his request.
It is true, this lab was discontinued when its studies proved to be fatal…at least for a certain experiment. Years have passes and the forsaken lab had gathered more than just dust. It attracted the attention of one man. He had a dream, a vision that if he were to reestablish the lab, he may be able to save humanity. It was a success, until a few years later; he grew full of hatred and greed. He believed that with his new discovery he would be able to create a bigger, better world. His determination drove him to test on the only thing close to him; his son, an aspiring artist with an imagination and spirit-Vivid. Eventually, Vivid’s father grew tiresome of his studies and aware of his disease. He gave up and tried to reverse what was done to Vivid, at the time he was only six. His father was all Vivid had, but felt distant from him. His father felt different, he knew that what he had done to Vivid was wrong. After years of failed attempts of reversing the affects, his father realized it was no use. What was done was done and there is no way to take it back. His only son, tainted with the pain and failure that could never be cured. He grew full of remorse and told himself the samething everyday, I’ll tell him when the time comes, for now I’ll let him enjoy life. Or what ever it is that he has left…What have I done… For the next few years, the two spent time together, more than anyone could have ever hoped for in a father. Sadly, his father’s time had come and it was time to pass…Thus the creation of Veran was spawned.
Vivid and the scientists worked day and night, without cease. What ever the case, Veran will thrive. They created multiples of Veran, some close to perfection and others no where near. One however, was more than perfect he was the embodiment sublime. This was the manifestation of Veran.Vivid knew this, however, he did not tell the others. Without their consent he released Veran into a world of aversion and immediately named him Verantio, nicknamed Veran. Veran knew nothing, but one thing-release the others and escape. From that fateful day, Veran, along with his tribe of mistakes and Vivid, has lived life isolated from society…Until his time had come to be taken away and re-created.
Vivid, was now in the same precarious situation as his father had been in. Could it be that he was a manifestation of his father? Despite Vivid’s pain he knew what had to be done. Veran had gone rogue with insanity; nothing seemed to cease his anger…or fear. He would often disappear for days and not return until he destroyed something. Vivid, spent days putting together a cure for Veran, but nothing was possible. Weeks later, it has come to Vivid’s attention that Veron has been found rampaging at a nearby location-the lab. Although it only took a minimal amount of time to reach the lab, to Vivid it felt like years. He finally made it only to find that Veran’s fear had taken over. But, Veran’s always been the alfa never afraid of anything. He was built to protect and not attack unless provoked. What went wrong? Veran had always feared being isolated, something Vivid never knew about. It had turned out that Veran’s disapperances were caused by being contained in the same area for too long; one of his traits was to roam the lands with Vivid. It was too late to react; Veran was on the lab floor, eyes shut and heavy breathing. Vivid’s tears were proving to be stronger than he expected, each breath seemed to be released slower and slower. I’ll make sure he stays, even if it means he has to be re-created as a doll… Vivid thought to himself, words were out of the question. Veran only stared at Vivid, then rested his head in his arms…And let out a trill of affection, one louder than ever…and his last.
